Ace101's Reaction To Yesterday's Announcement From Marvel Studios

As a big MCU fan (and in the future a big DCCU fan i hope) the news released today about the line up was awesome BUT i'm also pissed off about some stuff that was released as well. And its shocking cause i have never been pissed off at what Marvel Studios has done thus far. Hit the jump to find out my thoughts on this.

Hi everybody,

So how awesome was today right. We finally got official announcements from Marvel Studios that we will be getting movies that we have been waiting for since time immemorial.  Captain America: Civil War! Black Panther! Thor:Ragnarock! The Inhumans! Captain Marvel! Dr Strange! And the Avengers: Infinity Friggin God Damn War Parts 1 and 2!!

I am pretty much hyped up and stoked for the future movies. I mean come on, the Black Panther in a Russo Bros movie, you know that level 100 badassery is bound to happen. But! i do have some major or minor gripes (however you wanna see it).  Im not gonna write much, i just feel like getting rid of some first world angst.

1: The Titles. Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.
This is something that really pushes my buttons. The Civil War and Infinity War/Gauntlet were stories that were essentially not focused on any one character or team.  Why not just call the those 2 movies Marvel Event: Civil War and Marvel Event: Infinity War.  In terms of Infinity War, since they are clearly building up to an event that transcends just the avengers, so them calling it Avengers: Infinity War is so stupid. Its the MCU not the avengers-centric universe. It's something that irritated me every time SOME PEOPLE! wrote that in their "how i think the MCU will play out" editorials. And now Marvel Studios followed suit.

2. Thor: Ragnarock
Im a huge Thor comic and movie fan. And we all know full well this ain't gonna be an adaption of the famous comic book storyline (I hope not, its just not time yet). This will be a Thor-Loki-Thanos story that will lead into Infinity War. Maybe Asgard gets leveled who knows but thats not enough reason to call the movie Ragnarock.  Yeah the characters in the movie can refer to the coming threat as ragnarock which may be dismissed later, but it would take the value of the title away. So why use that title? theres no point. Just call it something else.

Ah i feel a little less mental now. I also don't feel like bathing the starways in blood now. It feels nice.

Also if anyone who reads this somehow has got a copy of the GOTG art book, can you flip through to the page with image of four cosmic entities (Eternity, Infinity, Death and Oblivion), and can you transcribe what it says next to each of the cosmic entities or take a pic and upload it in the comments section below. Thanks.

The MCU is too Avenger-centric, yes. But The Avengers is the biggest thing they have going in right now. With solo franchises of Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, each leading each time to an Avengers movie, it's understandable that they would have Infinity War be an Avengers story.

They don't have anything else as big. Guardians of the Galaxy is a team movie, but it didn't have 6 years of solo movies leading up to it. It's its own thing. They will probably make appearances in Infinity War, but the Avengers will definitely be the maing focus.

Would it be better if Infinity was adapted into a Marvel Event movie, more so than an Avengers movie? Possibly. But that would require double the time, double the movies, double the money, double the effort. It would be hard to build something up for 30 or so years.

I completely agree with you on Civil War. But in order for it to be a huge event for itself, the number of characters would have to be several times bigger, and the setting would have to be different as well. Secret identities would have to exist, Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four should be there, etc., etc. In the MCU, the Civil War will inevitably be much smaller in scale as compared to what happened in the comicbooks. But they will make it so it has a similar impact to the overall universe. And that's alright.
