Background: Born on Titan, Eros was the youngest son of two Eternals. He exhibited special powers early on, with the ability to create pleasure in others. Unlike his death-obsessed brother Thanos, Eros loved adventure and journeyed to many new planets, including Earth.
Eros and his brother Thanos share an interesting relationship. Though the two reside on opposite sides of good and evil, they meet once every thousand years and exchange gifts without any violence. This, coupled with the fact that Thanos claims Eris is responsible for his obsession with Death make their relationship a very complicated one.
When Thanos began a siege of Titan, Eros and his father teamed with Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) to defeat his forces, destroying the cosmic cube in the process (Captain Marvel #31, 1974).
After their battle, Eros and Captain Mar-Vell became close friends. When Mar Vell became sick with cancer, he entrusted Eros with the tutelage of his companion Elysius (Death of Captain Marvel, 1982). After some time, Eros left Titan to find adventure on Earth.
Eros sought out the Avengers and joined their ranks as a trainee. He fought many battles against the likes of Annihilus, Wizard and Terminus before becoming a full-fledged member of the team. When battling a being called Nebula, Eros discovered that her lineage came from Thanos. Wanting to find out the truth of her origins, he left Earth once again in pursuit of her (Avengers vol. 1 #261, 1985).
Over the next few years, Eros lived a more free-wheeling lifestyle, searching for adventure and romance, though he occasionally teamed with the Avengers.
Recently, Eros has been the subject of a federal investigation. With She-Hulk as his lawyer, Eros battled accusations that he used his powers to seduce many women. Eventually he agreed to have his powers shut off to protect the accidental use of them (She-Hulk vol. 4 #13, 2006).
Analysis: Starfox shares an important relationship with many Avengers members as well as one of their greatest villains, Thanos. Though he often left the team for personal problems, he remains a unique and integral part of the team from the 80s.
