Production cost - 280 million - 300 million

this is a much bigger movie than winter soldier which cost  just shy of 200million . with all the action and varied special effects sequences and the huge ensemble this is a way bigger movie no doubt it will show

Marketing- 100 million

Backends - 100 million+

- Marvels backends are legendary and has helped RDJ earn between 70-90 million dollars a year for the last 4 years and its made him the Highest paid actor for that period too. In this case we know all the rest of the team have better contracts not to his level but definitely not bad either

If you add up production marketing and backends, its roughly 500 million as we all know you need to do double that at the box office just to break even.

So 1 billion is the minimum it needs.

It'll reach billion,no doubt about it. Batman V.Superman:Dawn Of Justice should of as well,no matter how bad it is,it shouldn't have any trouble reaching a billion but it doesn't look like it will.

You need to knock it off with these propaganda pieces. You have an agenda, everyone on this site is aware you have an agenda, so there is no point in posting these articles as facts. I am sorry "YOUR" movie was critically panned by everyone (personally, I didn't think it was that bad. Great at the beginning, painful in the middle, pretty alright in the end) and this movie is getting a lot of early love (grain of salt because there were good reviews for Fan4stic.)You just need to stop trying to spin this situation in your favor. Marvel is the kingpin right now, DC is behind Fox right now ...that won't last forever, but your campaigning gives your side of this a bad name.

I think what you need is patience. Two of the best and most lucrative franchises today started off with A SLEW of mediocre films: Mission Impossible and Fast and Furious. Look at those franchises today. That is what I think DC will become; they, like the franchises mentioned, just need to find their own voice and image that works. So, can we cool it on the Trump-like behavior for awhile?

We get it, you don't like Marvel Studios or its fandom. Talk about beating a dead horse.

@tonytony It'll make it. And them some. The jokes on WB for over-inflating a newly franchised, crappy movie with so much money when it isn't guaranteed to be a success...and oh surprise...it WASN'T.

Civil War is Marvel's 13th movie. It's a guaranteed success. It's smart to invest a lot of money into a movie that's going to make a massive profit.

This only highlights how thick WB were.

And even though your figures seem pretty accurate, I see no sources. Post em' please

Theatrically profitable perhaps. But as pointed out numerous times there's a much bigger picture here people constantly miss. Essentially, DVD sales, rights to air, promotion. You might have noticed Audi is prominently featured in civil war. They had to pay for that. Besides, if Civil War doesn't make a billion and that's a big IF, it'll be BVS situation. 800-900 and it's profitable which it will make. But since Civil War is being marketed as Avengers 3, it will fly past one billion. Assuming those positive reviews continue which I think we can safely assume they will.
