this is actually a good thing in my opinion. Bucky-Cap was great when he first started, and still is in his own Brubaker written series.

However, its like no one else knows how to write him. Anyone thats been reading The Avengers can plainly see that Bucky-Cap does absolutely nothing. he's lucky if he has one line of dialogue an issue, and the rest of the time he's just standing around in the background doing nothing. Don't believe me? go read every single issue of The Avengers since he joined, and just try to find something...ANYTHING that he has done.

So yeah, it sucks that he won't be in the Captain America series, because like I said, Brubaker writes him astoundingly. But he sucks balls everywhere else.

CorndogBurglar: I agree. He's been an amazing character in the hands of Ed Brubaker, but Bendis just didn't know what to do with him and he's ended up being a spare part in titles like The Avengers...something I wonder may have contributed to them killing him off. Personally, I think it's a great shame, but have a feeling he'll be back. Hell, it's comic books, of course he will! :P

IMO, Steve Rogers is better than Bucky at being Cap. Personally, I never liked Captain Bucky. I will wait for the TPB as well...

I don't think Bucky is going to die, when the Avengers went to the future, there was a hint that Bucky was somehow responsible for something terrible that's going to happen. They haven't told that story yet, so he pretty much has to stay around.

Maybe they can donate his arm to Roy Harper incase he looses his left one too.

Oh wait, who knows what Roy Harper we'll see with the DC reboot

@ josh

"something I wonder may have contributed to them killing him off."

I think it definately did, but its something Bendis or Marvel will never admit to. I think it was the fact that Steve will be back as Captain America before the movie hits, so they couldn't have two Caps running around, especially since there's only one shield to go around. y'know? And like we both agree on, Bucky-Cap has just been a waste of space in The Avengers. Its high time the true Cap returns to the team, even though I LOVE his role as Director of SHIELD. (maybe he'll still be director too? I mean he still goes on missions with the Secret Avengers, so why can't he do both?)

bottom line is that Bucky-Cap has run his course. When they first made him Captain America, it made most fans happy because they didn't want to cheapen things by putting Steve back in the suit so soon after Bucky got it. Well its been a good 5 years now and it was a good story, but its time for Steve to be back in my opinion. :)

Ed Brubaker's Captain America run is the best comic series I've ever read. This made me sad. I hope he's still alive and remains a prominent character in the Cap run. Maybe he could get a whole new redesign and be mega badass again, working with Black Widow.

Bucky is one of the best Marvel characters. If no one else can figure how to write him, then just keep him under Brubaker's pen.

I'm going to trust that Marvel didn't have him escape the gulgag somehow only to die in the middle of crossover (at his first appearance in it, AAMOF). I think he'll find his way back and do something badass.

I'm okay with Steve becoming Cap again. Bucky has developed to a degree that he can carve his own path now.

I hope to see a Black Widow/Bucky ongoing sometime.

I am out of the loop on this one, but I do know that Marvel could always use another merc. With a little more edge after being "killed" this may add a nice depth to his character that separates him enough to make other able to write stories for him where he chooses to take up jobs for hire.

What's so wrong with just letting Cap be Cap and Bucky be Bucky? Plenty of room in the Marvel universe for both, either together again as partners or in separate titles.

Think about it: They could have a book titled "Captain America and Bucky" (with the film coming out they will need more than one Cap title anyway) and it could be penned by Brubaker. Problem solved.

If Bucky gets his own title, make him a top dog in S.H.I.E.L.D. as he's better suited for that type of role anyway.

As far as him being dead again, I'm not buying it. If you read the latest issue of Fear Itself you know that Rogers is en route to that battle site before BuckyCap gets impaled. He will likely arrive within the first couple of panels of the next issue. I'm guessing a SS Serum blood transfusion from Rogers could bring him around in no time. I really don't think they brought Bucky back after nearly 70 years to just kill him off again. The character has too much potential to just waste like that.

I thought this was about the real Captain America. Don't care.
