Destroyer14's Review of One Moment In Time Part Three

One Moment In Time is the event....well, by now you should know. The real question is, does part three deliver the answers we need? Read on.

Let me tell you, this issue was better than the last two combined. The flashback continues, but it gets a lot more interesting. It's cool to see the Kingpin again, he was great in Back in Black. If you like Mary Jane, you'll like this issue. She really knows how to fight. I like the art for the flashback, just not for the telling of the flashback.

Wow, so Peter was so keen on getting rid of the world knowing who he was. In my opinion, it happened too fast. He didn't even give it much thought. He just goes straight to Doctor Strange and asks him to change history. Amazing.

While we do get some questions answered, it's really not that clear. This arc is supposed to ease the fans that still can't stand Brand New Day, but it really doesn't make me feel any better. Perhaps the conclusion will bring everything to light.

The ending was quite interesting. I won't spoil it, but it's something you wouldn't expect. There is still something that will probably go unanswered. Did Venom go after MJ back in issue 300?

I give this issue a 3/5. The conclusion of One Moment In Time will be out next week.

@Destroyer: Great review!
I love how everything in Pete's life right after his unmasking is so non-stop frantic. I've been reading up on Civil War and I'm reminded that IMMEDIATELY after Pete's unmasking, he's puking his guts out and regretting his decision. I agree with you, Destroyer, in that Pete wasn't really thinking this through going straight to Dr. Strange, but that's understandable. Pete had been going through A LOT at the time and hadn't had a chance to catch his breath for at least a week.

AnilRikly predicts that we'll see the Infinity Gems in the final issue of this ark (last page) and I can't wait. I'm sure it won't answer all our questions, but at least it'll give us some closure. BTW, Destroyer, can you elaborate on this Venom vs. MJ in issue 300 thing for me?

if we do see the infinity gems, do they have the cosmic force to literally rewrite all of history involving him up to that moment....and if so will it keep the events intact, change just his past but keep the dark reign and siege occurring or make it so that we thought he made the deal with the devil still but we know the "TRUE" story......I can't wait to see how it all ends in two weeks....Great review Destroyer....I agree with you and jusme, Parker wasn't thinking rationally in all of this, he tends to jump to conclusions and seeks quick resolves without thinking of the bigger consequences...so hopefully we get some good conclusion, and hopefully not some cheap cop out like it was all a dream...theres a dream gem correct?

Thanks guys.

@jusme6 Way back in issue 300, Venom made his first appearance. He went into Peter's and Mary Jane's apartment and confronted MJ. At the time, they were married, of course, now history changed. So I'm just curious if Venom still went there.

its a complete cop out. i cant believe they are seriously playing this out as cheaply as they are. a deal with the devil should be way more impactful and dramatic than having peter go to doctor strange (just like he did in the first place) except this time strange says "yes ill help you". REALLY? the all mighty devils super amazing history changing trick is having strange change his mind? COP OUT!

and i was thinkin the same thing about venom back in 300. but i was also thinkin about the clone saga (i know della, i always come back to that damn clone saga) but if pete was never married to mj and they were never having a baby... did he still let ben reilly swing around for all those months as the real spiderman? cuz i thought the reason he hung up the webs was so he could focus on his family... but if he didnt have a wife and baby on the way would he give up the webs that easy? and can someone please tell me what the hell happened to that baby?!!!!! norman osborne replaced her with a stillborn and then took her but did they ever explain what happend to her?????? and does any of this even matter if pete and mj never got married in the first place now??????? so if they never got married that baby was never born???????? AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

@Aki: dream gem? Is that why I've been so sleepy today?

@Makiveli: I'm assuming all that baby stuff still happened. Technically, they never got married, but they were still together through the end of Civil War. We know that Ben Riley and Kane still exist (minus Kane being dead :( ).

It all might be crap, but I kinda like the results. Spidy's single with an aching heart over MJ, he's back to the web shooters, Aunt May is alive, all the old Spidy villains are back, etc. I just hope the future of ASM is more like the tail end of BND than the beginning and middle of BND. Oh yeah, Jackpot sucks! Was she secretly part of the deal?

so ben reilly is still alive- based on that 6 issue "clone saga mini"? wow i think ive really had enough of these writers. as much as i love ben reilly how can you just ignore everything that happend in the original clone saga and rewrite it in 6 issues? just because its the way THEY think it should have been? its just like BRAND NEW DAY, they didnt think peter and mj should have been married, so they just rewrite it so they never were. its a slap in the face to the readers- and you guys know how much i have been defending these deuchbag writers and the spiderman titles but this is getting ridiculous. ITS ALL CONNECTED! if you change one little thing it should affect everything. if harry osborne was the "mastermind" behind the clone saga and norman was just a clone, then how does norman rise to power and become the iron patriot???? in the mini rewrite he was just a clone! and in the clone mini- the baby was still alive at the end!!!! wheres the damn baby now?

they cant possibly expect us to take that clone saga rewrite seriously because it was just ridiculous compared to the original- where the ramifications are felt throughout the spidey timeline. this whole OMIT thing is just as bad of an idea as BRAND NEW DAY. somebody at marvel should recognize what these retards are doin to spidey. yeah the book is probably still selling because theres people like me who are gonna buy it no matter what. but enough is enough. you shouldnt be changing history without a creative and intriguing explanation.

alot of people (like my boy della) said that bringing norman osborne back as the master manipulator was "changing history"- and it was. BUT IT WAS DONE CREATIVELY AND IMPACTFUL!!!!! he showed up, stole parkers baby, replaced it with a dead one, killed his "brother"/clone, claimed responsibility for all the clone drama from europe, kicked spideys ass, and rose to power to eventually become the iron patriot.

but if you go off the clone saga mini..... NONE OF THAT HAPPEND!?!?

thats it! you know what fellas, im gonna go to college and get a job at marvel as a writer for spidey and im gonna change all the history that these deuchbags have wriiten back to the way it was. because apparently being a writer also means you can just edit or rewrite everything that was written before you got there!
