The "Age of Monsters" has begun, and the only being who can stop a legion of the world's most depraved creatures from overtaking the Marvel Universe is the Jade Giant! We'll be able to enter this horror-fueled new era of the strongest there is when writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Nic Klein relaunch Incredible Hulk this June.

Known for his acclaimed horror storytelling in titles like Alien and Marvel Zombies: Resurrection, Johnson will take Bruce Banner to sinister new depths when a war of monsters erupts with The Hulk at its centre.

And following his explosive run on Thor with Donny Cates, Nic Klein's skill at capturing the Hulk's fearsome rage and his panache for body horror promises to make this the most terrifying book on stands.

The pair will also explore Bruce Banner’s psychological state, left in shambles at the end of his latest run with Bruce and the Hulk's relationship more fractured than ever. Fans will experience a vicious hunt as Hulk is made prey by brand-new monster characters as well as classic favourites, all united in a fiendish new scheme.

As an enraged Hulk tries to take control of Bruce Banner's body permanently, a mysterious immortal turns every monster in the Marvel Universe against Banner in an attempt to free their creator, the primordial Mother of Horrors. With the help of an unlikely new friend, Banner and Hulk must try to stop the world from getting plunged into darkness.

"The significance that we’re finally bringing back the classic title Incredible HUlk is not lost on me," Johnson says. "It’s a tremendous honor, and Nic and I have the clearest possible vision for what we want to do with this story. Nic Klein is a genius, and working with him is pushing me to write a story worthy of his very best."

Klein adds, "Phillip and I put a big serving of monsters, a bit of eldritch gods, a good dash of suspense, and some cool new characters into the cauldron. We’re trying to serve up a Hulk the readers haven’t seen before. And if they like it half as much as I’m enjoying drawing it, they’re gonna love it."

Hulk Annual #1 arrives on May 17 and features a special preview of Incredible Hulk #1 before it hits stands on June 21. In the meantime, you can take a closer look at Klein's awesome cover for the latter below.

Not a huge fan of the hair but looks like it could be good. Hulk’s been the only comic I’ve followed fairly consistently since Immortal was so good.

@Kurban - I actually quite like the long hair, but I can definitely see why I'm of the few

@bkmeijer1 - Agreed. I also like the hair, but can understand why some wouldn't like it. It does make him look more like Skaar though.

About time he went back to before the Hulk as created and not some wimpy character who takes selfies with children.

@Benjamitesandwich - I guess the Donny Cates run isn't that good then?

I'm half-way though my IMMORTAL HULK omnibus and the body-horror theme of the stories would really appeal to a lot of horror fans IMO. I will definitely be checking this out. 👍🏻

With that said, it's virtually impossible that we would EVER see these types of off-the-wall and interesting storylines in the actual MCU while the aging, soft and there-for-laughs Mark Ruffalo is still collecting a paycheck. 🫤

Hulk is my favorite character, so I'm in either way. I just hope this brings in some continuity from previous arcs. Also, I might be in the minority, but I wasn't this biggest fan of Al Ewing's run. There were elements that were fantastic like immortality, the horror aspect, and a few other things, but nothing much else grabbed my attention beyond that. However, the end of his run explaining exactly where the source of Hulk's power comes from was amazing, top tier. Sadly, it has never really been addressed after that. That should really put Hulk back in the category of one of the most powerful beings in Marvel history, but as of recent, he's still being shafted, in the movies and even the comics now. I don't mind small, contained, and more personal stories either though if done well.

There is nothing like the Hulk anywhere in all of comics there is truly only one Hulk. The Hulk is truly Immortal, Indestructible and Unlimited Strength just stronger and stronger.

Looks like they pretty much confirmed a World War Hulk movie for 2026.

The Hulk's anger and rage just keeps growing my theory is he will reach a point and explode like the Big Bang and create the Hulk Universe.

I really didn't care for what Cates did with the Hulk after Immortal. A bunch of great character momentum was dissipated in service of a story that didn't really go anywhere imo.

I think there's some really compelling story work that can be accomplished with more amicable relationship between banner and hulk that Ewing was setting up and it's a shame that people keep wanting to revert to the old conflicting status quo
