As well as being advisors on the Guardians of the Galaxy film, which is due for release on the 1st of August, Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning have produced the tie in comic to the film. The comic was released today in stores as well as the Marvel app.

From the comic, we learn Taneleer Tivan aka The Collector (Benecio Del Toro) is located in Knowhere. Comic readers would know that Knowhere is situated in a dead, severed, celestial head. And  was the Guardians base of operations.

Ophelia Lovibond is indeed playing Carina (as seen in Thor: The Dark World), The Collector's daughter.

The Orb is located in a temple on Morag, which has been underwater until now for the past 300 years.

Ronan is after the Orb. And will do bad guy stuff with it.

Gamora used to be loyal to Ronan but now works against him to obtain the Orb for The Collector.

Yeah, the art is pretty ordinary. I wish it was more like their 2008 run.

Interesting stuff,
The orb has a good chance of being an infinity stone/gem,
which i hope gives us further ties to thanos (gauntlet).

is it not obvious at this point the orb is an infinity gem/stone?

@sansClaymore your right. any ideas for the endgame with the stones,
what we've seen so far wont fit into/onto a glove ?

I'm not sure the stones will literally latch onto the gauntlet. Instead, the Infinity Gauntlet will have the ability to extract the power of each stone and absorb them. I really hope this is Avengers 3, since I really don't relish waiting even longer for that great storyline. Give me Thanos. Give me whatever form the Avengers come in at the time. Give me at least a few cameos from Guardians. After some establishing scenes on Earth that communicate that along with the entire universe, the Earth is, obviously, also in danger (duh), have the entire second half of the film set in space. Ideally, I'd like a Avengers: Infinity Part 1 and Part 2, so the film can do everything it needs to, including fleshing out Thanos as a complex villain and not some stereotypical dark lord (like the recent Infinity series did).

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon sounds good, maybe putting all 6 stones together
will form the glove, or they might not use the gauntlet at all.
Cant wait to see the thanos movie(s) even more so than ultron5.
I also like your idea about it being a two parter, the more the better.

The art is usually bad in the tie-in comics but I still buy them.

So I went into my app to download this and clicked on the Winter Soldier prelude to check on something- then I got a message that the comic had an updated version and it asked me to download it...

anyone know why/what they updated in TWS comic?

I don't think there's ever been a movie tie-in comic that had good art, which is always disappointing.
