What If Comic Book Characters Could Change Companies

If the Monday Night Wars came to the world of comics how would the landscape change?

So the WWE's Royal Rumble is upon us this weekend. I know this because I keep seeing the ads and how I can watch it on the WWE Network and there was a time I was a huge wrestling fan. I still watch a little but it's not the same. Since Vince more or less owns it all the excitement is gone. During the Monday Night Wars one of the best parts was when somebody showed up from another company. Starting with the NWO and going from there it was pre internet as we know it so the anticipation that somebody might show up was awesome, but alas, those days are basically gone and wrestling will never be the same. This got me thinking, what if comic book characters could jump ship like wrestlers used to do. Say you pick up the latest issue of Punisher and he's looking to take down a crime family with extreme prejudice as only the Punisher will when his line of fire is blocked by a familiar site but you can't believe you're seeing it. The Batmobile is in his way and Batman is walking towards him. He's come to work with Frank Castle to capture, not  kill. The shots have been fired, Batman leaves DC for Marvel and the war is on. In response DC follows up with Invincible as the newest edition to the Teen Titans and Crossbones is brought on to the Suicide Squad. Marvel in turn starts the Rawhide Kid on a new run with his new partner Jonah Hex. Together they're going to try to set the west straight.....in more ways than one. Smaller companies are pillaged for their characters with the most potential and smaller characters within the two bigs are cast aside to find work with the smaller companies. The two bigs themselves, despite stripping the other books bare of their best,  continue to try and lure characters from one another promising better written stories, merchandising, video game appearances and the possiblity of cartoons, televison shows or even live action movies. Think of how this could change the industry if it were possible. What do you guys think and what are some moves, big or small that you could envision?

Thanks. I wrote the article in the headline by mistake. I since corrected it. I think Batman leaves because he wants a change and sees nowhere else for him to grow at DC. Besides, he's always hearing about how Spider-Man has the better rogues ( not looking to start a whole other debate ) so he wants to take them down, mostly for ego.

Any big name from an indie would be basking in the bidding war for their services. The indies would soon be putting out books of castoffs from DC and Marvel. The middle of the road guys would finally be getting their own books although on an indie and because of the war very few would notice. Eventually the indies would start to fall.

No you're getting it. The characters take on a life of their own and like wrestlers or free agents in sports are free to go where they wish.

I always thought DC would be a better fit for Disney and Marvel for Warner Bros. DC has always been the more light hearted of the two, while Marvel the opposite. But the movies have changed the perception of that.

Phenomenal Editorial!!! WWE is awesome and watching Raw or Smackdown is sort of like reading a comic book. I can't wait for the Royal Rumble, the Road to WrestleMania is the best time to be a fan! Speaking on the basis of movies, I think DC is WWF and Marvel is WCW. DC started it all and revolutionized a genre. Then also along came Marvel Studios and it's getting all this approbation while DC is falling behind. But we all know how it ends. DC revolutionizes the genre once more ( Justicd League SAGA/ Attitude Era) and becomes the powerhouse of comic book movies! As for comics, Im not too creative. Everyone here, come up with your own Montreal Screwjob!!! That would be a fun read. This is a fun read! 👍

Spider-Man would no doubt leave Marvel. Even Marvel fans would know that.

@ABetterTomorrow

TASM2 looks like a Citizen Kane story compared to the stories Marvel Comics has done for Spidey.

Clone Saga
Having that The Green Goblin [frick]ed Gwen and got her pregnant with twins
One More Day with Spidey selling his marriage to the devil
Doc Ock stealing Peter's body
Peter in Doc Ock's body seeing a memory Ock had which include Ock having sex with Aunt May before their marriage
Peter giving MJ cancer which killed her thanks to Pete's jizz being radioactive.
