CONSTANTINE Officially Axed By NBC; Will Search For A New Home

Premature reports on the cancellation of the small screen DC Vertigo adaptation gave fans some hope that we'd see a second season, but now producer Daniel Cerone has put the final nail in Constantine's coffin with a Twitter update. Is there a chance of new life elsewhere?

It's the news fans of the Hellblazer adaptation were dreading, but it seems we won't be getting a second season of Constantine... at NBC anyway. When the network declined to order more episodes after the initial 13, most of us figured that was the end of the line -- but Warner Bros. TV insisted that reports were premature, and a renewal was still a possibility. Well, even if that was the case then, it's not now. Here's the Tweet from the show's executive producer.

So where could WB look next? There were rumors that SyFy were interested but they seem to have been debunked, with Deadline now suggesting Fox -- where fellow Vertigo-based adaptation Lucifer also looks likely to be picked up -- is a possibility.

Are the majority of you disappointed, or did you find the show lacking anyway? Sound off below.

My condolences! :(

The show didn't manage to capture my interest as much as I'd hoped. Ryan as Constantine was dope, but the supporting cast and the story weren't enough to keep me watching regularly.

Things might've well gotten more intense and interesting if they had gotten more time to actually work on and finish the big story. Hope it finds a new home to get a second chance, it would deserve one!

Could HBO be Constantine's new home??? I didn't watch it, so idk if it has enough potential that HBO would be interested in picking it up. As I've mentioned before, it would make sense since HBO and Warner Brothers are subsidiaries of Time Warner. (That's why I'm still surprised there hasn't been a WB/DC comic book series on HBO.)

Speaking of, I predicted the other day Tom Hardy could be describing an HBO comic book series specifically because of this comment:

“It’s PRIME real estate which is sitting there right under everybody’s nose that no one’s really thought about yet and it goes TV and movie, it’s awesome. I can’t believe that nobody has even — I know they thought of it but no one has actually blown life into it yet.”

(And to clarify I do not think he's talking about Constantine.)

CW can pick it up so it can crossover with The Flash or even Supernatural.

Look... it wasn't very good, let's just admit it. I wanted to like it, I tried to like it, but as great as Ryan was as JC they just didn't manage to nail the right tone and some eps were downright terrible.

Can't the CW not just take it and have it become an even bigger universe or is it already part of the same universe as arrow and flash?

Dammit... I love the show, Hope someone picks it up.

IMO only Flash and Daredevil is better than Constantine as best CB show. Its better than Arrow, especially Season 3 Arrow.

Really a shame. I hope WB finds a great new home for it. NBC is really gonna feel stupid, when they find a better network for it, & it does better than it did on NBC.

CW or Syfy I expect. Sad that NBC [frick]ed over their own show but I'm happy WB cares enough to find it a new home.

Matt ryan should b3 the Constantine for dccu. Hope it finds a home at a mature cable network so we can get hannibal style horror and violence. Pushing for somewhere like fx or tnt maybe iDk. Time Warner owns tnt so....

If they took the property to HBO, kept Ryan as the lead and focused on making a short season with a lot tighter writing this could rock!

And yet, Agents of SHIT and Agent Carter and Powers get multiple seasons?

NBC is making more shit seasons of HEROES and some random shitcoms?

This show had potential. It seems like they new which direction they wanted to take it and it could have easily found it's legs as the cast settled in to their characters. Hope it gets a second chance. I think it was about a half season away from being a "must see show."

The best parts of the show were Manny, and John who was miiiiiles better. The storytelling was totally lackluster and really uninteresting.

That's all NBC fault and that bullshit scheduling they had for this show. You give a new show a 10pm time slot on a Friday and expect great ratings. This show should have aired on Thursdays to coincide with the DC show schedules. The show was great and the performances were outsatnding especially from Matt Ryan. Constatine had so much potential but really suffered from poor scheduling and low exposure to the general audience. Hopefully this gets picked up. Hard to believe Gotham gets a second season and this show does not.
