When Vincent D'Onofrio was doing the rounds to promote his return as The Kingpin in Hawkeye, he appeared adamant that this was the same Wilson Fisk we saw in Daredevil. That was despite the villain clearly having received an upgrade in terms of strength and the fact that no reference was made to where he was left at the end of the show's third season.
In reality, it seems far more likely that Marvel Studios plans to pick and choose certain actors and characters from the Marvel Television era, vaguely referencing their respective histories, but not being beholden to any creative decisions that weren't made by the Marvel Studios team.
This approach was somewhat confirmed by Matt Murdock actor Charlie Cox during a recent convention appearance when he talked about the Man Without Fear's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Saying this version of the hero will be "in keeping with a lot of things in the MCU," Cox added that this is "a good moment to have a few years [pass]" as Daredevil is "reimagined...slightly different [and] 'born again'" The actor then took that one step further by suggesting this take on the character is "like a homage...the sky's the limit. Let's see"
Despite not confirming what comes next for 'ol Hornhead, Cox clearly isn't looking to pick up right after where the Netflix series ended, and if those She-Hulk rumours are correct, we anticipate the Hell's Kitchen hero being completely reinvented for the MCU.
