Are Fox Looking At "Comedy Directors" For Deadpool?

David Slade reckons so. Once again the director has tweeted a very interesting update but this time on the status of the highly anticipated but directorless solo Deadpool movie..

As we know, David Slade will helm Daredevil for Fox Studios. But it would appear that he may have had the option to choose from a few other comic book properties. A recent article by Deadline seems to think Slade might have been the man to replace Darren Aronofsky on The Wolverine had he not opted for The Man Without Fear. And the following tweet suggests that he may also have flirted with Deadpool..

"Love DEADPOOL, was never engaged in the (quite fantastic) script, last I heard studio was looking at comedy directors. None of my business."

Now on one hand this seems to confirm that Fox are looking to get the wheels in motion and get the film into production. On the other Slade wouldn't exactly inspire confidence with this comment. But plenty of directors come from a comedy back ground and deliver the goods(look at John Favreau) and there is certainly quite a lot of comedic elements in the script so I'm going to remain optimistic until we get some names at least.

Good, that's what the script needs. But we need someone who can direct action too because the script has a lot of it. Adam McKay did a great job with The Other Guys, he's my top choice.

After what Matthew Vaughn did with Kick-Ass, I think he could do Deadpool well.

Peter Berg? The Rundown was a good action/comedy.

I'd rather they get going on Silver Surfer than this personally.

This might be a long shot, but what if they got an asian director like Choi Tsark(Once upon a time in China), or Kitamura (Versus). They both have had some comedy in their violent action movies. For Action Comedies though, Scott Sanders (Black Dynamite) or Martin McDonagh (In Bruges) Could do it and theyre probably cheap too knowing Fox and all. By the way, any got the script for Deadpool? Everyone keeps talking about how bass A$$ it is.

Tarantino, David Gordon Green, or Joe Carnahan.

If Tarantino can't, Id really like Carnahan to do it.
He's done A-Team and Smokin' Aces. Both action with comedy in it. I think he'd do a good job. :D

Then Green if the other two can't do it. He did Pineapple Express. Kinda Actiony, mainly Comedy though.

well since they have the writers behind Zombielad writing this (fantastic script BTW) why don't they just get the director of zombieland too pretty sure the guy can pull it off.

I'd figure that in this case, Ryan won't be Wade. :( Damn shame, the script was really focused on Ryan. AH WELL!

Is David Slade's name going to be mentioned with every Marvel character that FOX has the rights to? Seriously. Also I can't really tell what means by "engaged." Does that mean that he read it and did not like or just never read and therefore does not know much about it?
