DEADPOOL 2 Star Ryan Reynolds Shares Photos From The First Time He Suited Up As The Merc With The Mouth

With Deadpool 2 currently in its second weekend of release, Ryan Reynolds has taken to social media to share photos from the first time he donned the Merc with the Mouth's suit during a costume test...

Deadpool 2 is performing well at the box office (especially as Solo: A Star Wars Story hasn't posed as big a problem as many analysts suspected) and Ryan Reynolds is celebrating that today by not only suggesting a Deadpool/Guardians of the Galaxy crossover to James Gunn but by sharing some fantastic photos of the first time he wore the Merc with the Mouth's iconic comic book costume in 2015.

This must have felt good, especially after the X-Men Origins: Wolverine fiasco and the years he spent trying to bring the character to the big screen. Even after Deadpool was announced, many fans were convinced Fox wouldn't let Reynolds wear the suit because it was far too comic book accurate.

Well, we were all proved wrong and this costume test looks fantastic and a lot of effort was clearly put into bringing Deadpool into a live-action setting in a way which would make purists happy. Thanks to the marketing campaigns for both movies, Reynolds has worn the costume an awful lot over the past few years and many fans are hoping he'll get to keep wearing it despite the Disney/Fox merger.

Suit looks clean and beautiful as shit.

Off topic but:

With a budget north of 300 mil, Solo might struggle to even get 400 million worldwide. It's bombing out here in the states, and it's pretty dead internationally with an international weekend gross of only 60 mil.

I love being the bearer of bad news for some reason, maybe cause I'm an asshole.

@NoMeaning45 - This did way worse than the worst case scenario.

@Pantherpool - it's making JL look like a success.

@NoMeaning45 - I mean, Solo is definitely not as important to the overall franchise as JL was to the DCEU and expectations were very different, but it kind of does.

NoMeaning45 - 5/27/2018, 11:05 AM
@Pantherpool - While you're right about that, the budget is the same as JL and possibly even higher. So while the status of the two films aren't the same, the budget and losses are. And it's bigger this time around with Solo.

It's basically a non-important spin off with a budget of a tentpole event film.

@NoMeaning45 - bye bye to all that sequel talk

@BlackBeltJones - bye bye to that Lando movie too.

Also bye bye to that boba Fett movie or Kenobi if this is any indication.

Is this the best comic book accurate costume to date?

Must've been such a cool and satisfying experience for Reynolds who fought to get this movie made for so long

@Bokis - right? And to think 5 years ago, no one would have ever guessed we would get 2 Deadpool films. The real hero isn’t Ryan. It’s Blake! She’s the GOAT behind all of this

@Roodi - now if we can get a re release before the conclusion there's a chance to beat Avatar, maybe lol

@bobevanz - I was thinking that but it would be a hard decision for marvel since captain marvel comes out in March.

It would make sense to release infinity war a month before 2 but then it cuts into captain marvel box office.

I was expecting that mask to look awful. I thought the eyes were more cg than it is. If it looks this good without any touch ups why does he look so animated at times?
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 5/27/2018, 11:10 AM
@MyCoolYoung - well I guess I can answer my own dumb question.. It's to make his mouth and eyes move. Sorry for the stupidity guys.

@MyCoolYoung - All they did was animate his eyes, not his mouth.

@Boyle360 - I thought maybe they did with how much it moves everytime he talks. You're probably right though

Suit looks really nice, probably the most comic-accurate suit in history. I finally got a chance to see Deadpool 2 this weekend (I was gonna watch Solo, but I felt that I'd enjoy Deadpool more), and I thoroughly enjoyed. The humor was a hit-or-miss for me, but some of the jokes were genuinely funny. I felt though that some of the characters were wasted, like Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Surge. Tbh, I enjoyed it more than the first one. I absolutely loved the end-credits, they were genuinely funnier than the actual jokes in the movie.

That suit is staying on Reynolds for many years to come & I am completely okay with that

I really liked the second film better. Only because it was nice to have Cable, and since the first film was a intro, it seemed to drag a bit. But the 2nd was able to just hit the ground running. It’s like comparing apples to oranges.
