DEADPOOL 2 Writers Originally Wanted The FANTASTIC FOUR For The Sequel's After-Credits Scene

In a new interview, Deadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick reveal yet another scrapped idea for an after-credits scene which would have featured Chris Evans and the cast of 2015's Fantastic Four!

The first Deadpool movie only featured one after-credits scene but the sequel upped the ante and delivered quite a few. Well, as it turns out, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had more ideas than just Chris Evans showing up as the Human Torch and the Merc with the Mouth killing baby Hitler because one of the ideas they batted around was the cast of Josh Trank's Fantastic Four showing up!

"We had Chris Evans coming in, not as Captain America, but as the Human Torch," they reiterated before adding that we could have also ended up seeing the cast from the Fantastic Four reboot which bombed in 2015. "And then we had a subsequent scene where all the [2015] Fantastic Four came in together, including Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, to kind of one-up the Chris Evans visit."

Needless to say, that would have been great fun but it's hard to imagine any of the actors who starred in the disastrous reboot wanting to reprise their roles even as a joke. Throw in the fact that Fox is clearly going back to the drawing board with those characters and they probably wouldn't have wanted to remind moviegoers about the team either (even though it's likely they'll soon return to Marvel).

Would you have liked to see this after-credits scene? As always, share your thoughts in the usual place.

That would've been hysterical. One final joke before the Fantastic 4 goes back to Marvel.

I would argue Chris Evans was a great Johnny Storm even in those movies. I would've loved it if he turned up to audition for X-force and he still had that radical early 2000s attitude.

If it also involved "fixing the timeline", killing the 2015 Fantastic 4, it would have been one of the best things I would ever seen in my life!

I too would've loved seeing that. Not a matter of the actors not wanting to reprise their roles, would've been awesome of them admitting the obvious failure of the film and making a joke out of it just for fun.

Just wasting too much time on unfunny 4th wall breaking stuff.

Also Green Lantern > RIPD/Blade Trinity.

They should just shoot as much additional time-stream fixing scenes as they possibly can for the David Leitch extended cut.

Thank [frick] this didn't happen. Nobody wants to remember Fant4stic, even if it was just to make a joke out of it. It's better to pretend that abomination never happened.

I like the 1990 unreleased ff, the 2005 ff, didn’t care for the rise of silver surfer, but that 2015 ff just blows.

Really wanted to see that, especially with Chris Evans as Human Torch. Should have taken the one where he save Vanessa out and put this one in.

If they'd managed that probably would've reset the timer before rights go back to marvel( sale or no sale)

@ExpertlyMediocr - Watchmen. V for Vendetta. (not strictly DCU, I know).

Little shocked to see Justice League so high, though. Shouldn't that be in the Terrible category? It's very similar to all of the films in that category. They all play well with kids and are big, shiny and colorful, but also incredibly terrible.

@ExpertlyMediocr - Superman: The Movie, Batman Returns, The Dark knight, Batman'89 (though that's dependant on seeing it as the 1940's take on the year 2000.) and Man of Steel (last for a reason)

Honourable mentions: Watchmen and BvS.

And on Marvel's side:
Avengers, Winter Soldier, CW.

Honourable mentions: Infinity War, Homecoming

Since Fox doesn't own the F4 movie IP they first would have had to get permission from Constantin Film who in fact does own it. Constantin Film would have had in turn had to get permission from Marvel to go outside of their contract. There is no way crossovers with Fox were contemplated when tbe F4 was sold because at that time Marvel still owned the X-Men rights. Its theoretically possible but highly unlikely that the X-Men contract was written in such a way as to permit cross-overs. This is Homer Simpson level thinking. D'oh!
