Ever since that Deadpool test footage leaked online during 2014's San Diego Comic-Con, it's been clear that Ryan Reynolds is great at marketing. That's become evident from the way he's promoted the many brands he's part of, though it extends to his Hollywood work as well, with the news Hugh Jackman will return in Deadpool 3 broken in the most unique way possible.
Now, as he and Reynolds gear up to start shooting the Marvel Studios threequel, Jackman has just dropped a video pleading with Academy voters not to nominate his co-star for "Best Original Song" at the Oscars. That's for the actor's work in Apple TV+'s Spirited, of course, but what's the Wolverine actor's issue here?
"[It] would make the next year of my life insufferable," he explains in the video below. "I mean, I have to spend a year with him shooting Wolverine and Deadpool..."
Yes, it appears Jackman just dropped Deadpool 3's official title!
Reynolds wasted no time in responding, questioning the name, but seemingly confirming this was no mere mistake on Jackman's part. Given how long Deadpool 2 was referred to as "The Untitled Deadpool Sequel," we can definitely see this movie getting two conflicting titles - Wolverine and Deadpool and Deadpool and Wolverine - once the marketing campaign ramps up.
For now, though, this is a name for the movie that it's hard to find fault with. Wolverine getting top billing over the Merc with the Mouth kind of makes sense and is sure to be something Wade Wilson takes issue with while breaking the fourth wall.
Deadpool 3, or Wolverine and Deadpool, is currently set to be released in theaters on November 8, 2024.
