DEADPOOL Update From Director Tim Miller

It's not dead yet, folks (but things don't look too promising either)! Via The Goon's Kickstarter page, Deadpool director Tim Miller reveals that there's still hope for the "Merc with a Mouth" at 20th Century Fox.

With Mark Millar just recently joining FOX as a Creative Consultant, a role that he's described as being akin to Joss Whedon over at Marvel, we just knew that we'd be getting some Deadpool news soon. However, the movie hasn't been mentioned by Millar once, leading many to believe it's just not a part of FOX's plans anymore.

However, current director of the movie, Tim Miller (founder of Blur Studio), also attached to The Goon (just recently Kickstarted by producer David Fincher) took his time to respond to a fan on the Kickstarter page when asked if the Deadpool movie is moving forward or not.

Here's what he had to say:

DEADPOOL: We've turned in an amazing script and done some early tests and visual development that--I'm confident--would get the fans stoked. And Ryan still loves the project. So it's really up to Fox as to whether or not the film happens--all I can do is hope (and beg periodically) that it be allowed to move ahead. "

So FOX hasn't completely let go of the idea of a Deadpool movie but it doesn't look like it's in active development at this point either. The R-rated script leaked and is known to be pretty amazing, praised by reviewers and fans alike. Test footage evidently has been shot and could (hopefully) be released to the public later on similar to what Marvel plans to do with Ant-Man. The movie was once set to get into production in 2012 but seeing how that's not happening we can all just hope 2013 is the year of the "Merc with a Mouth".
