While it's still nearly a year out, Walt Disney Studios have gone ahead and released the first official trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra's upcoming adventure film, Jungle Cruise, which stars Dwayne Johnson (Hobbs & Shaw) and Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) in the lead roles.

Just like Pirates of the Caribbean, the film is also based on a classic Disney ride, but will tell its own original tale about an explorer (Blunt) who seeks out the help of a riverboat captain (Johnson) for a mission to uncover the deepest and darkest secrets of the Amazon jungle.

Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.

What the hell is this garbage. What was The Rock smoking when he made this. They even spoiled the big twist in the trailer where him and Emily Blunt switch bodies and have to undo the ancient curse by finding some stupid mystical diamond in the jungle.

The Breaking Bad movie sucked.

Looks like a fun film...but...Johnson is miscast! They should have gone with someone like Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pratt, or Oscar Isaac!

@Forthas - Chris Pratt? He played a similar role in Jurassic World and was terrible in it.

@tmp3 - He does comedy very well and looks scruffy like he lives in the jungle.

@MadKingCipher - Yes! Dwayne Johnson does great as a military expert, bodybuilder, superhero or even roles like Conan or Hercules. It is hard to buy him as a tour boat captain living in the jungle. I hate to stereotype him but that is what he looks like...and does not look like.

@Forthas - Not gonna lie I agree 100%, dude is just too buff and big to believe he lives in a jungle spending most of his time giving fake tours for pocket change. I mean when the [frick] does he have time to lift?

@Forthas - I just said the same thing!!! This looks more suited for someone like Brendan Frazier...especially if this was 20 years ago.

@superbigguy32 - Agreed. Frazier did a great job. They need someone who can do physical comedy (which Dwayne Johnson can do well) and looks like a down-and-out schmo...which for Johnson is a stretch.

Yeah looks okay to be honest, a bit of fun/popcorn flick for kids and adults alike - its disney AND the Rock remember.. so they're looking to franchise this no doubt. Looks like theyve LITERALLY copied the first Mummy movie! Even got scum bag Jack Whitehall as the crazy silly brother!
Ms Blunt gets hotter everytime i see her....Please Marvel..get her for Sue Storm...!! Cos shes making a storm in my pants!! :-)....Anybody?? Come on.. i know you're out there!!

@OptimusGrime - Yeah, this looks like someone took the Brendan Fraser Mummy and Pirates of the Caribbean and put them in a blender. I'm sure it'll make like a billion though, just like the Jumanji films.

This set in the early 20th century...

That one black dude on that boat hoping they don't toss hi overboard to the marauders like

Looks like a fun family film and something I'd enjoy watching with mine, we rewatched Jumanji 2 and loved it.

Still kind of wish that The Rock would go for a slightly dramatic and different role, a bit like he's not done before, but he seems to be playing it safe but has picked some bad roles as well recently.

@SimplyAz - The Black Adam director wants to make it "Dirty Harry-esque" in regards to morality, so he's probably gonna have to stretch his acting muscles there - along with his other muscles.

@tmp3 -

That sounds interesting, and gives me hope that he doesn't play Black Adam as just himself.

My favourite role of his is still in Faster and wish he did more movies like that.

@SimplyAz - He's really good in Walking Tall. IMO, it's one of his more underrated "dramatic" performances.

Yeah I definitely enjoyed Walking Tall as well, and even one of his first comedy role Rundown/WElcome to the Jungle was fun.

It reminded me of those 1970's/1980's lean mean action films. Dwayne Johnson playing one of those man of few word protagonist's
