DOCTOR STRANGE Concept Art Reveals A Creepy Humanoid Take On The Dread Dormammu

Marvel Studios concept artist Jerad S. Marantz has revealed an alternate take on Doctor Strange's Dormammu, and it definitely would have been fun seeing the Sorcerer Supreme battle this version...

Doctor Strange was one of the most visually exciting movies Marvel Studios had ever delivered back in 2016 (and still is in many ways), but something that divided fans was Dormammu's appearance. He looked a lot different to his comic book counterpart, and while getting Benedict Cumberbatch to voice him was a smart move, he looked kind of...weird?

Now, concept artist Jerad S. Marantz has taken to Instagram to share an alternate version of the Dread Dormammu who is a lot more humanoid in appearance and a lot more cosmic in nature.

Chances are he would have been as massive as the version of the villain that Doctor Strange faced off with as there appear to be planets coming out of his head! He looks both God-like and someone who wouldn't look out of place in a horror movie, and it's a shame in many ways that Marvel Studios didn't go for a slightly bolder take on this classic character.

The sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is set to be released next year, but it will be Sam Raimi in the director's chair this time instead of Scott Derrickson. Seeing that the Spider-Man trilogy helmer brings to the table is very exciting, though, especially from a visual standpoint.

Cool. This design is way better than what appeared in the movie.

I don't like it. It's great art but if this were the direction they were going in they might as well have done a comic-accurate version instead.
