DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Concept Art Reveals Gory Deaths For Baron Mordo...And Wong!

New Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness concept art reveals the gory deaths of Baron Mordo and Wong at the hands of the villainous Scarlet Witch. This really isn't for the faint of heart, folks...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ended up being more of a Multiversal taster session than anything else, and while those huge cameos left fans with plenty to discuss, high expectations led to some fans being disappointed.

We know some seismic changes were made to the sequel along the way, including a cut opening sequence that saw Baron Mordo confront the Scarlet Witch. That was going to result in the Doctor Strange hero-turned-villain being beheaded by Wanda Maximoff in a scene that, while gory, sounds like a waste of a character with real potential.

We didn't end up seeing the MCU's Mordo again, though his "Master Mordo" Variant did appear. Now, some newly released concept art shows what the version we know would have looked like after losing his head courtesy of the Scarlet Witch.

It's a gory image, but one that pales in comparison to a piece of artwork showing a dead Wong. We're not sure when and where this was going to fit into the story, but it seems Wanda was going to slice his noggin right in half, leaving his brains leaking all over the floor.

There would have been no redemption for the former Avenger after that, though we suppose it's possible this was the Wong from Defender Strange's Earth.

Both Mordo and Wong are likely to be a big part of Doctor Strange 3 and while it doesn't have a release date, rumours persist that the plan is for the threequel to arrive in theaters before Avengers: Secret Wars. The clock is ticking in that case, so fingers crossed we get some news soon.

Take a look at the concept art below and let us know your thoughts on these possible deaths of the two sorcerers in the comments section.

Yeah this would've taken things way too far. It's already hard to see how Wanda will be redeemed after murdering an entire group of superheroes, even if they were in an alternate universe, as well as a bunch of sorcerers in Kamar-Taj, at least one Doctor Strange variant (albeit one who was going to kill a teenager to stop her powers falling into the wrong hands so that's kinda a grey area morally) and whoever else she might've killed before that.

Sure, the explanation that she was corrupted by the Darkhold and wasn't entirely responsible will hold some weight, but that still only kinda goes so far and if she'd [frick]ing sliced Wong's head in half then there's no coming back from that.

@AC1 - she wasn't under the influence of the Darkhold when she took an entire town hostage. And yeah, Wong is a fan favourite, killing him would have been unforgivable.

@AC1 - we don't have enough living villains or morally grey people as is in the MCU. Why do people so desperately want to Wanda redeemed?
IF she's alive, can't she just remain this really dangerous being you have to check up on every now and then?

Like an escaped psych ward patient who can wreck your life with a thought, so you tiptoe around them and never look em in the eye

I did think Wong was going to die in the movie, not a great movie but I still enjoyed it.

Liked the movie and the way it has a slasher movie trope in it, but I'm glad they kept those out cause as @AC1 said Wanda's (possible) redemption arc is already hard now as it is.

Plus once again the leakers were right. They called those months before release.

That's pretty hardcore. They better not kill off Wong though. Currently my favorite character.

@bkmeijer1 - in all of the mcu? Hmm

@bkmeijer1 - If we are talking about Phase 4,it would be Spider-Man or Doctor Strange.

But the whole MCU, well it would be Captain America.

Hulk and Thor are favourite comic book characters they would have been my favourite MCU characters but after Infinity War, well they've treated them like shit.

@bobevanz @marvel72 - okay, rectification: Wong is my favorite in Phase 4.

In all of the MCU phases, I'm inclined to say Bucky or Vision, but I think I'm gonna go with Thor. Regardless of L&T, his whole MCU journey is one hell of a rollercoaster.

@bkmeijer1 - Thats fair enough.

So mordo is no longer going to be a big bad of any Dr strange movie? Wasted.

Wong is as great as ever. Expecting him to either die or pass down the role of sorcerer supreme to strange. Could go either way

Marvel loves to pull people in with an interesting and misleading trailer and drop some bs. This movie was no exception

@Matchesz - imho this was probably their most misleading trailer maybe outside of endgame

@Chuck420Taylor - how so?

To me this felt more like a Mephisto situation - the fans reading something into it that wasn't there. But curious as to why you feel it was misleading.

@Itwasme - I was personally let dwn by MoM. The fact they traveled through distinct universes without stopping bothered me. I would have enjoyed maybe a scene or two of the animated world they went through.
Itwasme
Itwasme - 2/6/2023, 2:10 PM
@Chuck420Taylor - fair. They stopped in only 3 other dimensions (the Illuminati, the dark dimension, and whatever that this is where the book was) and they had a flashback to another with America. One more would have been great, but would it have really changed the movie all too much?

My overall take is that once the pandemic hit they likely had to streamline a little bit, but overall it still felt pretty cohesive. All films, regardless of studio, really suffered from the pandemic. Inconsistent productions leading to inconsistent films.

@Itwasme - Would one more stop have changed the movie, no but there was a chance. The fact EEAAO went to a universe with one rocks. America teasing a world of paint without a glimpse is teasing to the umph degree.

Your second paragraph hit the nail on the head. I wonder how phase 4 would have turned out without the pandemic.

I hope people maintain this same level of accountability for Loki when he redeems himself and saves the Multiverse. The way Wanda cannot come back from the atrocities she has committed, neither can Loki. Loki was responsible for the deaths of innocent lives by launching an intergalactic attack on a planet he wanted to rule. Loki is directly responsible for the death of his mother as well. Every variant of his is bad. Loki is the reason Thanos killed all those innocent Asgardians on the ship and is directly responsible for Heimdall's death. Sure his 2012 variant has a change of heart but is doesn't negate the chaos he brought to the 616 continuity. And I hope people who keep coming at Wanda maintain that same energy for Loki.

@SonOfAGif - During the battle of New York, Loki was under the influence of Thanos (via the scepter), per Kevin or one those guys.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 2/6/2023, 11:12 AM
@LSHF - Wanda was influenced by the Darkhold. And if we look at their actions prior to their mind control moments. Wanda enslaved Westview, Loki launched a planet destroying act on Jotunheim and usurped the throne of Asgard.
LSHF
LSHF - 2/6/2023, 2:58 PM
@SonOfAGif - Yes, 100% true, but it did make them worse, and it was their lust for power and control that tempted them to choose their further stupid decisions to work for Thanos and read the Darkdold.

I know a lot of people on this site did not like Dr. Strange 2, but I liked it a lot.

My question is when & how Scarlet Witch will turn back up.
