DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Officially Announced; Will Also Star Elizabeth Olsen

Marvel Studios has officially announced the Doctor Strange sequel, which will see Benedict Cumberbatch return as the Sorcerer Supremer and will also co-star the Scarlet Witch, Elizabeth Olsen!

In addition to her own Disney+ series, the Scarlet Witch Elizabeth Olsen has also been confirmed to co-star in Marvel Studios' upcoming Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is arguably one of the coolest film titles ever given in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Benedict Cumberbatch will, of course, return as the Sorcerer Supreme and the film has also been rumored to feature the return of Benedict Wong as Wong, although he wasn't formally announced during tonight's presentation.

While the film is still in the pre-production phase as it won't debut until May 7, 2021, director Scott Derrickson did share a chilling tease, “We are going to make the first scary MCU film,” although Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige did jokingly respond with "It’s gonna be PG-13 and you’re going to like it!

Feige introduced the second film in the “Doctor Strange” franchise, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” and called the director, Scott Derrickson, and star Benedict Cumberbatch to the stage to a rousing welcome.

In a surprise twist, Feige brought out Elizabeth Olsen, who also stars in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” and they talked about how “WandaVision”—the Disney+ series that Olsen will star in as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch—connects directly to the feature-film storyline.

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” hits theaters on May 7, 2021.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I've said this since Infinity War. I predicted Doctor Strange 2 would 100% bring in Scarlet Witch as his apprentice and introduce her comic accurate Tiara as a mystic item that chooses her to be it's "warrior".

@IronGenesis - I wanted it to be more like Ant-Man and the wasp as Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch

This news is so exciting! For so long I was content with the idea of Scarlet Witch being in Doctor Strange 2 but I really wanted her to get her own movie. But then we found out she was getting a big budget series and I was satisfied. And then today they blow my mind. We are getting a series and it’s leading to her starring in a Doctor Strange 2. I’m actually having my cake and eating it too. It’s like Christmas at Richie Rich’s house.

How is it possible that after decades of Doctor Strange comics not one artist thought to call any of the books "In the Multiverse of Madness"? it is the most comicbooky title ever.

Feige is a true fan, and genius.

@Comicbookart - Very Lovecraft - but on steroids.

Mountains? Pfff... we got The Universe!

@Floke - You had me at "Lovecraft."

They can make a PG-13 horror film be good. Or a film with enough horror aspects to really capture that dark feel some of the comics have.

I, for one, hope that the series is Wanda altering reality, and in the movie, Strange trying to fix it.

@4N6 - Agree. Horror in my eyes is not gore and splatter, but the fear of what we do not see or see but dont understand. Horror has no age.

Btw, they should change Thor4 into
"Love, craft and thunder" lol

@Floke - If only they would change that title...

GOOD horror doesn't have to be rated R, but it depends on the film and plot. I understand why some movies "need" to be R rated. But when I hear of a horror film I'm interested in ends up rated PG-13, it doesn't disappoint me.

There's a lot of horror movies that are only rated R because they have sex in them, anyways. The gore doesn't even necessarily warrant an R rating in a lot of them. Never really understood the connection with sex in horror films.

@TyrantBossMedia - I 100% agree about the Thor statement. I'm excited for Jane Foster, but not Portman. Maybe some awesome directing will change my mind. It's the only reason I think Thor might be at least sort of good.
