DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Promo Art Reveals Detailed Look At The Monstrous Gargantos

A new promo poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reveals a detailed look at the monster known as Gargantos, but are he and Shuma-Gorath one and the same? Check it out after the jump...

Marvel Studios isn't shying away from showing us Gargantos, and it appears the hope is that we'll be led to believe this creature is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' villain. The similarities to Shuma-Gorath are undeniable, and there's been speculation that the character - whose goal is to conquer the Multiverse - has been renamed due to copyright issues tied to Conan the Barbarian

If this is Shuma-Gorath, he doesn't look terribly imposing based on what we saw in the trailer, and certainly not on the scale of whatever the tentacled monster that kept showing up in What If...? was! We'd put money on Gargantos just being one of Shuma-Gorath's many monstrous minions.

Perhaps our best look yet at the creature has now been revealed on a new poster shared by Walmart. His surroundings are certainly interesting, while there's no denying his colouring and design is strikingly similar to that of the creature Captain Carter found herself squaring off with not too long ago.

We'll see, but Strange is definitely going to have his hands full with Gargantos either way!

The movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Xochitl Gomez. Marvel Studios describes Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as "a thrilling ride through the Multiverse with Doctor Strange, his trusted friend Wong and Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch."

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released on May 6.

Has it not been covered that it’s basically Shuma Gorath but they can’t use the name because of Conan rights?

@IKidYouNotMan - really? Interesting, I had no idea Shuma-Gorath originated with Conan. Isn't Marvel publishing Conan comics these days?

@IKidYouNotMan - yes and no, Gargantos is still a Marvel character.

@IKidYouNotMan -
Rumors are that they combined Gargantos and Shuma Gorath and we'll see a bigger version later that is more lovecraftian and inspired by Shuma Gorath for the films finale.

This actually is Gargantos if you look at the tentcles. Shuma Gorath doesn's have those what is it called, plungers? He only has them like in a few comics, but Gargantos had them always.

@RegularPoochie

But why use Gargantos when Shuma Gorath is a 1000 times better.

It’s weird to think starro and shuma were cooked up in the labs of dc and marvel and they both thought “this should strike fear in our readers!” When all I see is Patrick!
