DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Trailer Leaks Online - Here's A Breakdown Of What Happens!

The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer has leaked online ahead of its official release, and we have a detailed breakdown of all the biggest moments and reveals from the two-minute teaser!

By HamiltonParker - Dec 15, 2021 07:12 AM EST

WARNING: Potential SPOILERS for Spider-Man: No Way Home follow!

Well, that didn't take long.

Earlier this week, there were reports that the first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would be here sooner than many of us expected, and it turns out - this is your FINAL spoiler warning - that it's attached to Spider-Man: No Way Home as a post-credits scene. This isn't the first time Marvel Studios has dropped a surprise like this, as you may recall Captain America: The First Avenger had a mind-blowing first teaser for The Avengers play right at the very end of the film.

We won't be sharing the leaked footage here, but it is doing the rounds online. We're assuming the plan is for an official version to drop later this month, but it's possible this is exclusive to theaters.

Either way, we have a breakdown of exactly what happens in this mind-bending first look at Sam Raimi's return to the Marvel Universe for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness...

Spider-Man: No Way Home Fallout

Rtrvcxb6 o

Familiar dialogue from Spider-Man: No Way Home plays in the background, such as Wong warning Doctor Strange not to cast that spell to make the world forget the wall-crawler's secret identity and Stephen telling Peter Parker that they know frighteningly little about the Multiverse. Meanwhile, the title character's reflection can be seen in the face of his broken watch.

Wong then tells Strange that his "desecration of reality" will not go unpunished, and we see him walk out into a New York City that appears to be collapsing in on itself.

As haunting footage of Strange walking through a derelict Sanctum Sanctorum plays, we hear him explain that he never intended for any of this to happen as snippets of footage show him attending Christine Palmer's wedding, the Scarlet Witch's powers, a bloodied Wong, America Chavez, and what appears to be a one-eyed raven.

Wanda Maximoff Returns

Eiw1amji o

We're then taken to a beautiful farm in the countryside where Doctor Strange has tracked down Wanda Maximoff. She's been expecting him, but Strange isn't there to talk about Westview; he needs her help. He asks what she knows about the Multiverse, which definitely piques her interest.

From there, we're treated to a lot of mind-bending visuals as Strange, Wanda, and Chavez look through a door that appears to be floating through the cosmos. Mordo returns with a new look, and the trailer then features a giant cloud engulfing Kamar-Taj, Wanda suited up as the Scarlet Witch casting a spell in a circle of candles, lots of action, and Strange protecting America from a massive creature in the middle of New York City that's either Shuma Gorath or, more likely, Gargantos.

The best surprise is saved for last, though...

Doctor Strange Supreme

Hrbbwnnq o

"I'm sorry, Stephen," Mordo says in a voiceover. "I hope you understand. The greatest threat to our universe...is you." With that, we see the MCU's Doctor Strange come face to face with a character who will be instantly familiar to those of you who watched What If...? on Disney+ earlier this year.

It's Doctor Strange Supreme, and he tells Stephen that "things just got out of hand." With that, it appears we have Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' lead villain. We're not sure exactly where this scene takes place, but it's in ancient ruins of some sort as an ominous black cloud swirls in the background. Clearly, this demented Strange managed to escape The Watcher's prison.

It's a terrific teaser, but one can't help but wonder how much misdirection there is here. Strange looks thoroughly perplexed to come face to face with himself, and that's where the teaser ends!

You won't be sharing the leaked footage, but putting ''HAWKEYE's Latest Episode Brings [SPOILER] Back To The MCU For What Promises To Be A BIG Finale'' on the homepage is okay?. I haven't seen Hawkeye yet, but I'm pretty sure I know who it is about.

Anyway, I saw some clips already on Reddit and gotta say there was some solid stuff. Pretty much the whole plot isn't surprising though.

@bkmeijer - They completely spoil by the headlines on this site. They don't understand that censoring the name doesn't stop us from know what happens w [SPOILER]. It's thoughtless and very inconsiderate by the editors here.

The trailer could be misleading, but at the moment it doesn't seem like the plot is going to be about Wanda hopping around the multiverse killing cameos from the previous franchises.

The scene of NYC “ appears to be collapsing in on itself” looks like an exact live action version of the same scene that was in What-If…

The scene where Strange makes the choice NOT to use the time stone to go back and save Rachel, then goes outside to see the city / people melting away…I believe the ancient one showed up right after if I’m remembering correctly…Right before he has his confrontation with Strange Supreme…

It looks pretty. But it just confirms that Doc Strange is the idiot who casts the idiot spell and has to once again learn to not be an idiot. Wong is more Doc than this guy now.

@McMurdo - Damn.....so true.

McMurdo - 12/15/2021, 10:50 AM
@CorndogBurglar - I love Doc Strange. He was my most anticipated to see in the MCU post Avengers and Benedict is a great actor. But man am I gutted by what they are doing to the character. Using Strange as a plot device for your Spider-Man movie in a way that actually damages the character is just plain dumb. I don’t get why they want him to go on this particular journey again. So when I hear Benedict saying he’s concerned about his character in his sequel, ya I get that and I don’t think it’s something to just gloss over. This film may have some legit issues in the writing dept.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 12/15/2021, 2:05 PM
@McMurdo - Thats all fair. Dr Strange is supposed to be a lot more wise and experienced than to be taking unnecessary risks. Wong certainly shouldn't be the one that appears to be the wise one. And for Strange to just blow off his warning and do it anyway?

I get you man. I can understand that.

But watch what I say, people defending this will use the excuse that Strange is still inexperienced. But that won't work, because something like 5 years have passed since he became Sorceror Supreme. He should know better by now.

McMurdo - 12/15/2021, 3:46 PM
@CorndogBurglar - I agree and even just based on Infinity War, I’d argue Strange was ridiculously responsible. We aren’t talking about his smugness but his role as the Sorcerer Supreme and who he is up to this point within the MCU, obviously contextualized by who he is in the comics of course. But this idiot spell just totally baffles me. It’s so dumbfounding a character decision that it makes it feel as if Strange and his characterization were wholly secondary to the writers of No Way Home and that his value as a plot device was the primary reason for his addition. It’s a shame. Just another MCU char like Hulk and Thor who I’m quickly losing interest in. It’s why I’m so thrilled with the Disney + shit. Loki was brilliant IMO and I also thoroughly loved Wandavision. I really hope Wanda isn’t butchered in Doc Strange 2 cuz that plot leak has me concerned. It’s one of those things that will be all in the execution because Wanda just did something really bad and she got off essentially scott free other than the fact that she has to remain in hiding and isolated and has no family again. So her becoming the villain if it’s of her own volition, well it will feel like she learned absolutely nothing in Wandavision.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 12/15/2021, 4:34 PM
@McMurdo - For sure. The MCU desperately needs the X-Men and Fantastic 4 in my opinion. They're weird decisions to not recast actors is really starting to hurt the franchise in my opinion also. Along with what you said. So now not only do we have an MCU with no Tony Stark, Steve Roger's, or T'Challa.....but the big names we do have are being treated really weird.

I'm gonna need the F4 and X-Men to get here quickly, and I'll need them to to be good representations of the characters. Because at this rate, Blade is the only movie I'm really excited for. And Ant-Man, but really only because I want to see Kang.

And I agree, the shows have been great so far. Loki was amazing. WandaVision was great, What If had some good episodes and some misses, but overall it was entertaining. Falcon and WS was my least favorite, but it served its purpose. I have yet to watch Hawkeye.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 12/15/2021, 4:42 PM
@CorndogBurglar - no you’re completely right. We need X-men and FF ASAP. X-men can take over as the main team pretty quickly if it’s done right. I love Ali as Blade. But I feel very strongly about that film needing to be R rated. I don’t get why Deadpool 3 can be R rated but Blade has to be watered down to fit the landscape. Frustrating. It’s why I’m thankful for some of the more recent things Hamada is doing at WB. I loved Gunn’s TSS and I think movies that are that out there should be allowed to happen within the MCU. But Feige just ain’t about it
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 12/15/2021, 8:51 PM
@McMurdo - Man, we're on the same wavelength. I loved TSS. And I agree. I'm excited about Blade, but its irritating it isn't Rated R. There are only a handful of characters that should be Rated R, and Blade is one. Punisher being another.
SnideCut
SnideCut - 12/16/2021, 1:52 AM
@McMurdo - Yeah, because heroes having flaws is such a dumb idea, yeah? Did you even watch NWH. If you did, you'd know Dr. Strange wasn't responsible for the spell going awry. You'd also realize the reason he cast it is to help out someone in pain. But of course, you'll just jump the gun and say the MCU sucks for some assumed bs because that's all you do on this site.
SnideCut
SnideCut - 12/16/2021, 1:53 AM
@CorndogBurglar - it actually isn't. Strange doesn't mess the spell up. And Strange casts it only to help out a person who's in pain. Its all pretty well explained in NWH.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 12/16/2021, 2:39 PM
@SnideCut - I didn't think Strange messed up the spell. My point is that Wong even warned him about using that spell. But he went ahead and did it anyway. It just makes it look like he's reckless and that Wong has more of an understanding about things than the actual Sorcerer Supreme.
MyBeard
MyBeard - 12/17/2021, 10:41 AM
@CorndogBurglar - Don't know if you've already seen NWH, but how it seemed in that trailer misrepresents the interaction between Wong and Strange somewhat. I definitely did not leave the film feeling that Strange was set back or ridiculously out of character. His actions seem within the parameters of believability for the personality they have established.

@Twenty23Three - id say so far it doesn't look like it. But benefit of the doubt, we'll see when the movie comes out (but it should've been in wandavision).
Twenty23Three

TheWalkingCuban - 12/16/2021, 10:35 PM
@TheWalkingCuban - ok just watched it. Man the Evil Strange was a blast to see on the big screen. You truly cannot miss an MCU project and thankfully he’s on one of, if not the best, episodes of the show. What If do wasnt all great but some eps were. The eyetopus was cool to see too, even tho captain Carter bored me to death. Anyway, I’m as hyped for this movie as I was for NWH. Ahhh I hope Wong don’t die but, alas, I think he will
