In the latest TV spot for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we see Master Mordo finally name the sequel's mysterious group of Variants, "The Illuminati." This was expected, of course, but the promo also marks the first time they've been referred to by that moniker.
While Mordo, Sir Parick Stewart's Professor X, and a Captain Marvel Variant (likely Maria Rambeau) all appear to be part of the clandestine goup, it's quite a departure from the comic books, where they were typically heroes from the main 616 Marvel Universe who got together because, well, they're smarter than everyone else. We'd argue this is a far more interesting take on the team, though.
Elsewhere in this sneak peek, we see a little more of that undead Doctor Strange, the Christine Palmer Variant (Clea?), and one of America Chavez's star-shaped portals to another reality.
