Due to "creative differences" with Marvel Studios, Scott Derrickson recently decided not to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Instead, Spider-Man helmer Sam Raimi is taking charge of the Sorcerer Supreme's next solo adventure, but one of Derrickson's ideas might have been revealed!
In the Tweet below, he drops some major hints about meeting with actress Natasha Lyonne about "the multiverse," and something tells us the plan was for her to potentially take on the role of Clea.
A female Nightmare might have also been interesting for the Orange is the New Black and Russian Doll star, but now Derrickson is no longer attached to the Doctor Strange sequel, chances are Marvel Studios and Raimi will head in a different direction when it comes to the casting process.
Lyonne is a real talent, however, and adding the eclectic actress to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's hallowed halls would have been no bad thing. In the Multiverse of Madness is thought to be undergoing a rewrite since Raimi boarded the project, so we don't even know how many of Derrickson's ideas will be left on the cutting room floor by Kevin Feige by next November!
