Kit Harington has insisted for a while now that Eternals isn't about Dane Whitman's transformation into Black Knight, though it's obvious that will happen somewhere in the not too distant future. In the meantime, we're just excited to see what the Game of Thrones alum brings to the table in the MCU, and it sounds like Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had his eye on the actor for some time.
Talking to The Playlist, Harington recalled meeting with Feige long before he was offered the chance to join the cast of Eternals.
"I had a general meeting with Kevin maybe a year prior to getting the call about this movie, just about their new phase, and that there’s something for me in it at some point," the actor reveals. "And they had me in mind and that was an exciting meeting to take.
"[Then] I got a call about this movie from Nate [Moore], the producer, and I met with Chloe and they talked me through what this was about and the role that I’d fit into playing within it," Harington continues. "And on that information, I said, 'Yeah, I’d love to do that. Thank you.'"
The site asked whether he was clued into what the future could hold in store for Dane in the MCU, and Harington confirms he was only told about where the character's story would go in Eternals.
"Just to sort of, what you see in this movie is what I read or was told about. And I assumed that there could be a future there for me and it looks like it could be an interesting one. So, that’s why I jumped at it really." As we noted, that future is bound to include the Black Knight, and given his and Sersi's history with The Avengers, something tells us Harington has an exciting few years ahead of him.
Eternals is set to be released in theaters on November 5.
