ETERNALS Writer Reveals That Multiple Versions Of The Movie's Post-Credits Scenes Were Considered

Though he doesn't spoil any details, Eternals writer Kaz Firpo has revealed that as many as nine post-credit sequence ideas were considered before settling on the two that feature in the finished film.

As is the norm for the majority of Marvel Studios releases, Eternals will feature two post-credits scenes (don't worry, we won't spoil them here), but it seems quite a few ideas - and characters - were considered before the writers settled on the sequences that feature in the finished film.

During an interview with Metro, writer Kaz Firpo revealed that ideas for "about nine" different post-credits stingers were discussed, and it sounds like at least a few of them would have taken the story in a completely new direction.

"Well, we can't spoil anything, but the other nine possible versions of these endings, they just told different stories. They chose different characters, they introduced different ideas, and so a big part of it for us was just, where do we want to go next? And when we finally figured that out when the movie was done, that's when we knew, this is the way we're going, we're going out into the stars."

It's difficult to predict what these scrapped scenes may have entailed (especially without spoiling certain things about the movie), but Eternals is an incredibly expansive story that opens the door to whole new corners of the MCU, so there are numerous possibilities.

If you're curious about what happens in the post-credits scenes, spoilers are out there, but if you don't know the details already, we highly recommend waiting until Eternals hits theaters on November 5 to find out.

The fact that the critics aren't responding well to it means that it breaks the typical Marvel formula which means at least the film will stand out from the rest of the MCU, for better or worse I'm intrigued to see it.

@soberchimera - absolutely, I’m really looking forward it. Just hoping the stupid humour injector hadn’t ruined it though.

@soberchimera - People have been telling Marvel fans for a decade that Marvel has a "formula". It's funny how they all suddenly see it now.

@BillCipher
Unless someone casts Léa Seydoux in a CBM role, she's the #1 GOAT imho.

There's Eva Green too i guess.

Wait, are we lowkey summoning WakandanQueen right now? :P
Oh God... D:

The reaction surprises me but it was bound to happen eventually. Not every MCU film can be a banger.
I'll watch it sooner than later but my biggest gripe with the marketing was that it seemed to be exactly what I kept criticizing DC/WB for in the past decade. Like an attempt to 'legitimize' CBMs as 'real cinema'. Made to appeal to detractors and nay-sayers like Scorsese and instead satisfying no one.
The trailers made it look like an A24 film with a budget and I have my issues with that studio as well

@Blergh - the most MCU movies are not a banger

@Spawnnn - I disagree. I genuinely haven't seen many MCU films that I would have called bad, few mediocre. Most at least good to great.
You can call me a fanboy now if you wish

@Blergh - I am not saying they are bad. There is still room between BANGER and BAD. There are few bad, there are few very good, and there is a big majority of good blockbuster entertainment.

Not really what I go to Marvel to see. I'm a long time purist who likes the street-level grounded sensibilities that Marvel historically appealed to, with the occasional cosmic battle.
