For my first Fancast I decided to do the Justice League since I am a DC guy. Most of my casting is original but I have used some of the best that people like TheHawk, Tankgirl and a few others have done in the past also. This movie if done right in my opinion could become the highest grossing movie of all time. It would also be the most expensive movie or movies ever made. So I decide that if it would be the most expensive then why not go all out and do an Apokolips story. Plus to me what could bring the True Earth’s Mightiest Heroes together like a threat from Darkseid and the forces of Apokolips. I kind of see this as a two movie story like Kill Bill or as a Trilogy. I only wanted to do seven of the Justice Leaguers because I really love the movies Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven. I want it to have that kind of feel. Then decided to put Hawkgirl in too because I wanted more women on the team. But they do make some new Allies/friends along the way.
This is a cross over movie and with Batman 3 coming out possibly after the Green Lantern, Bale’s Batman is included. In this Universe, Batman was the first costumed hero that the public knows about and inspired other people to do the same. The Justice Society never existed and if it did no one knew about it; as far as this story goes they are never mentioned or hinted to.
Also I am including a summary on some of the characters that may be lesser known by people. Some of these summaries I have gotten from dc.wikia.com and wikipedia.org.
Henry Cavill as Superman
Height 6' 1"
Out of a lot of the choices that have been suggested for Superman on this site I like this one the best. In fact I like him a lot for Superman. Though I have been concerned about his age but by the time we get to a JLA movie after one or two Superman movies I think he will be the right age.
Christian Bale as Batman
Height 6' 0½"
I know some people don’t like him as Batman, but this is a cross over movie like I said earlier. Also some have said he will not do a Justice League movie. Bale has never said that though in fact the only time he was ever asked was by IGN and his answer to them was "It's like I was saying to Chris [Nolan] -- I'll be probably doing this in dinner theater somewhere in my 50s, so I won't knock it. Because who knows where I'll end up?" Sounds like a yes to me or at least he would consider it. I like Bale as Batman, he just needs to change the voice.
Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern
Height 6' 2"
Xen Sia as Wonder Woman
Height 5' 8"
Xen Sia is virtual unknown actress and has been in a few independent films. I kind of want an unknown actress for Wonder Woman and I think Xenia is perfect for it.
Ethan Embry as Barry Allen/The Flash
Height 5' 10"
I choose Barry Allen because he needs to come before Wally West and establish a friendship with Hal. Barry and Hal became best friends; as a result Hal is like an uncle to Wally. The other reason is because I like Barry the best he was the first Flash I came to know. Also I like the fact that he is a Police Scientist for his “day job” and did not just win the Lottery. Plus Wally’s origin would have never come about without Barry.
I like Ethan Embry for this part because I have seen him play young cop roles and light hearted roles in several movies and TV shows. I have always liked him as an actor since he was a kid. I was also looking for someone around 30 years old. Plus during his youth, he was a competitive gymnast. Due to this, he often performs his own stunts in movies.
Scott Porter as Aquaman
Height 6'
I believe this was a pick of Tankgirl’s in an earlier Fancast that she did and I really like it. I had another idea for Aquaman but felt he was a little too old for the age range I was going for. But most of all I felt Scott Porter was perfect.
Jessica Biel as Hawkgirl
Height 5' 8"
Someone else picked Jessica Biel for Hawkgirl originally I don’t know who it was but good job. Biel can do physical roles and she looks just like Hawkgirl.
Idris Elba as The Martian Manhunter
Height 6' 2¾"
The New Gods
John Rhys-Davies as Izaya The Highfather
Height 6' 1"
Kevin McKidd as Orion
Height 6' 0½"
Orion is the second son of Darkseid, half brother of Kalibak and Grayven, and the husband of Bekka. As a child, he was traded for Scott Free in a peace effort between New Genesis and Apokolips. Raised as the son of Highfather Izaya, he was taught to control his rage and anger, becoming the most powerful warrior either world has ever known. This in itself was not an easy task given that his heritage boiled with the rage of the brutal and merciless Darkseid. Learning how to control his dark nature consumed much of Orion's youth, but as he grew, his friends among the New Gods helped him direct his anger. Orion counts among his friends Lightray, Metron, Scott Free, Barda, and Forager. He is a hero dedicated to the ideals of New Genesis. His fighting skill and stamina have earned him the nickname "The Dog of War".
Orion is my favorite of the New Gods. Kevin McKidd is perfect for this role. A few years ago when I first saw him on Rome I said to myself “Oh My God its Orion”.
Wentworth Miller as Mister Miracle (Scott Free)
Height 6' 1"
Scott Free is the son of Izaya (Highfather), the ruler of New Genesis, and his wife named Avia. However, as part of a diplomatic move to stop a destructive war against the planet Apokolips, Highfather agreed to an exchange of heirs with the galactic tyrant Darkseid; the exchange of heirs guaranteed that neither side would attack the other. Scott traded places with Darkseid's second born son Orion.
Scott grew up in one of Granny Goodness' "Terror Orphanages" with no knowledge of his own heritage. As he matured, Scott rebelled against the totalitarian ideology of Apokolips. Hating himself for being unable to fit in, he was influenced by Metron to see a future beyond Darkseid. Scott became part of a small band of pupils who were tutored in secret by the rebel Himon, a New Genesian living as a "Hunger Dog" on Apokolips. It was at these meetings that he met fellow pupil Big Barda, who would later become his wife.
Jodi Lyn O'Keefe as Big Barda
Height 5' 10"
Barda is a product of Granny Goodness' Home for Orphaned Youth. Granny's motto is "Die for Darkseid" (the planet's evil ruler). Granny grooms Barda to one day lead the Female Fury Battalion, a ferocious pack of warrior women. However, during a raid Barda meets Scott Free, Darkseid's adopted son, and, sensing a peace about him, falls in love.
I think that O’Keefe is great for this role of the battled harden heroine who was raised on Apokolips.
Eric Bana as Metron
Height 6' 2½"
Alan Tudyk as Lightray
Height 6'
Lightray is the shining star of New Genesis and a high-spirited New God. Unlike his grim friend Orion, Lightray is cheerful and optimistic and prefers to solve problems through compromise rather than combat. He uses the speed of light to his advantage in eluding foes.
I loved Alan Tudyk on A Knight’s Tale and on the show FireFly, something about the guy always makes me smile when I see him in movies and on TV. He is perfect for Lightray.
Darkseid and The Forces of Apokolips
Kane’s Body and Michael Ironside’s voice as Darkseid
Height 6' 8½"
I know a lot of people are going to say oh no not a wrestler but hear me out. Darkseid has to be big. What I am thinking what they can do is use a green screen mask and later add in the features of Ironside’s face looking like Darkseid. And use Ironside’s voice.
Brad Dourif as Desaad Height 5' 9" or Robert Carlyle as Desaad Height 5' 8"
I had a hard time picking this one it came down to two people.
Liev Schreiber as Kalibak
Height 6' 3"
Kalibak is the first-born son of Darkseid and Suli. His mother Suli is killed by Desaad, acting under orders from Kalibak's grandmother Queen Heggra. Kalibak becomes a legendary warrior, and often serves as Darkseid's second-in-command.
Kalibak is often pitted against Orion, and after numerous clashes they learned that they were half-brothers. This fuels Kalibak's hatred of Orion to new levels, for Darkseid clearly values Orion over his first-born. Unlike Orion, Kalibak secretly craves the love of his father - something he, nor anyone else, can hope to attain - and it has been shown that he has a gentle side which is completely submerged under his brutish exterior, and he consistently and fearfully keeps hidden, for any sign of weakness is, on Apokolips, subject to the cruelest punishment.
Liev Schreiber has stated that he loves DC comics and I really wanted to give him a role. Even though I would like to find a good guy role for him I think he would make a great Kalibak.
Michael C. Hall as Grayven
Height 5' 10½"
Grayven is the third son of Darkseid, born of an unknown mother, younger brother to Kalibak and Orion. Grayven possesses formidable super-strength and endurance. Additionally, as a New God, he cannot die from natural causes. His greatest power is a limited form of the Omega Effect used by his father, Darkseid.
Daniel Dae Kim as Mantis
Height 5' 9"
Mantis is the leader of a colony of humanoid insects that migrated from New Genesis, in return for his fealty Darkseid gifted him with great power. He is the second most powerful being on Apokolips, second to only Darkseid himself. Mantis is an energy vampire who can project tremendous blasts of energy and absorb any form of energy or any power source.
Originally I was thinking of casting Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa but he is 60 now and is probably too old for the part. I really like Daniel Dae Kim and I think he could do really well in this role.
Dominic West as Steppenwolf
Height 6'
As one of the New Gods, Steppenwolf is the brother of Heggra, and the uncle of Uxas (Darkseid). He is also a member of Darkseid's Elite. He leads the military of Apokolips.
Ray Park as Kanto
Height 5' 9"
Kanto is Darkseid's favorite assassin. He is a master swordsman and fighter, and considers his work his art.
Marc Warren as Glorious Godfrey
Height 5' 9"
Godfrey's power is the power of persuasion. Godfrey in this movie would be very much like in the comics. In Darkseid plan's to invade Earth he sends creatures to Earth to fight the superheroes causing lots of collateral damage. The public begins to resent the heroes and therefore Darkseid starts the second phase of his plan by sending the master manipulator Glorious Godfrey to Earth. Godfrey starts a hate campaign against our heroes.
Faran Tahir as Virman Vundabar
Height 5' 10"
Virman is a minion of Granny Goodness, having grown up in her orphanages like many of Darkseid's soldiers. He models his personality and schemes on Prussian military appearance and precision.
Tyler Mane as Jaffar of Deep Six no names as the rest of Deep Six
Height 6' 9"
At the bidding of their master, Darkseid, the Deep Six exist for the sole purposes of combat and terrorism in his name. All six fish-like members possess superhuman strength as well as the ability to breathe and function underwater. Jaffar was a member of Darkseid's elite aquatic terrorist cell Deep Six.
A lot of people dog on Aquaman all the time thinking he is not that great of a character so I wanted to give him someone really big to go up against so that is why I chose Tyler Mane for the part of Jaffar.
Kathy Bates as Granny Goodness
Height 5' 3"
Granny runs the "orphanage" training facility for his elite soldiers, where she uses brainwashing and torture, in a brutal parody of child care, to turn the innocent into fanatical warriors willing to kill or die for Darkseid's glory on Apokolips and is the chief of the Female Furies.
Kathy Bates is a pick of TheHawks. He did a really good job on this one. So I decided to use it. Thanks TheHawk.
The Female Furies
The Female Furies, brutally trained and led by Granny Goodness, are fanatically loyal to Darkseid.
Tilda Swinton as Bernadeth
Height 5' 10½"
Co-leader of the Female Furies, Bernadeth wields a "fahren-knife" that burns her victims from the inside. As the sister of Darkseid's servant, Desaad, Bernadeth is both notorious and feared by the masses of Apokolips.
This is another pick of TheHawk’s. This pick is perfect and could not do better myself.
Rhona Mitra as Lashina
Height 5' 7"
Lashina is raised a warrior in Granny Goodness' orphanage, and takes over leadership of the Female Furies when Big Barda leaves Apokolips for Earth.
Queen Latifah as Stompa
Height 5' 10"
Stompa is the strongest member of the Female Furies, she has super-strength and durability. She uses her anti-matter boots to crush her victims, and can create earthquakes or tremors by stomping onto the ground.
I think Queen Latifah is a great choice for this role she looks a lot like her. Also Latifah has been nominated and received lots of acting awards and I know she can do a good job on this.
Helena Bonham Carter as Mad Harriet
Height 5' 3"
Mad Harriet is raised in Granny Goodness' orphanage and is noticed by Granny for adoring the feeling of torture and pain. One of the first members of the Female Furies, Mad Harriet serves Darkseid despite her insanity.
Helena Bonham Carter is also a pick of TheHawk although on this one I also had her in mind before I saw his Fancast. No one plays crazy like she does.
Margarita Levieva as Gilotina
Height 5' 6"
A member of the original group of Female Furies, Gilotina is capable of slicing through almost any material with her hands.
I chose Margarita Levieva because I really liked her in the movie David S. Goyer directed The Invisible plus she looks great for the part.
Parademons: CGI or Extras
I was really trying to keep the number of members of the JLA down. But I decided to do one more just because everyone loves him so much.
Michael Fassbender as The Green Arrow
Height 6'
