I'm sure most of us know that Josh Trank has reportedly been confirmed as the director of the Fantastic Four reboot, but i decided to reboot even that decision, with a different choice for director.
Anyways, looking back, i think that most of us can agree the first two Fantastic Four movies suck. They're just silly compared to today's super hero movies, and hopefully the reboot can change that.
So i guess i'll get going and start with the story outlines i made.
Note: I didn't include a lot of details over the characters personal lives, such as Ben's relationship with Alicia, but i figured that those details would still be in the movies.
THE FANTASTIC FOUR
The Fantastic Four are a group of superheroes in New York. Led by Reed Richards, they have proven to be a great source of help for Earth after an accident in space gave them each different super-human powers. Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, the genius leader who can stretch any part of his body, Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman, who can turn invisible and create force fields, Johnny Storm aka Human Torch, Sue’s cocky brother, who can generate flames, surround himself with them and fly, and Ben Grimm aka The Thing, a brute force who has superhuman strength and endurance due to his rocky frame. But they are met with a great challenge when someone opens a portal which allows the Skrulls, an ancient alien race, to enter Earth’s atmosphere and begin their invasion of Earth. The Fantastic Four are outnumbered and have trouble defeating the Skrulls, but eventually manage to close the portal. However, back on the Skrull capital world, their emperor, Drekk, handpicks a soldier to become the Super-Skrull and he is given the powers of all the members of the Fantastic Four. He soon leaves for Earth by himself without an army, while someone on Earth opens another portal. During their first encounter, the Super-Skrull keeps the Fantastic Four at bay with his superior powers after landing in New York and claiming the world in the name of the Skrull Empire, finally forcing them to run away while the Skrulls attempt to conquer Earth. However, Mr. Fantastic correctly guesses that his powers are augmented by an energy beam directed from the Skrull home world after he detects it. He then challenges the Super-Skrull to a fight on the uninhabited Crater Isle. Blocking the beam with a device the Invisible Woman places on him while the rest of the members distract him and are hypnotized by him, deprives the Super Skrull of his new powers and he is quickly defeated. He is imprisoned in a crater by the Human Torch while pursuing the Invisible Woman. As Reed tries to get answers as to who opened the portal all the Super Skrull says is “Doom”.
FANTASTIC FOUR II
Set five months after the Skrull Invasion, the Fantastic Four (especially Reed) are still investigating the Skrull Invasion, and Reed has become obsessed with finding the “Doom” person the Super Skrull warned him about. He has become so caught in it, he has almost abandoned the rest of the Fantastic Four, and his new relationship with Sue is almost non-existent. While attempting to find a gateway to the portal that let the Skrulls in, Reed stumbles upon a universe equally parallel to Earth’s and he calls it “The Negative Zone” as everything in it is negatively charged. However, he soon discovers that another man from Earth has already discovered it. It is a man in a green and silver steel suit, who Reed recognizes as Victor von Doom, who he attended university with. Victor reveals himself as the man who opened the portal for the Skrulls, but wants to be called “Dr. Doom”. This leads to a brawl between Dr. Doom and Mister Fantastic in which Mister Fantastic is physically dominated by Doom. Once Doom has Mister Fantastic almost unconscious, he leaves the Negative Zone and traps Reed in it. Before he leaves, Doom takes off his mask and reveals the scars that he claims Reed gave him back in University. After showing him his scars, he leaves, leaving Reed stranded. Back on Earth, the rest of the Fantastic Four struggle to find where exactly Reed went. Investigating in his lab, they are soon attacked by Dr. Doom. He overpowers them and captures them. Soon after, this leads to a world wide manhunt for the missing Fantastic Four, and on the Negative Zone, Dr. Doom soon comes back and leaves the rest of the Fantastic Four there. Using a Fantastiflare, Reed signals his location and the rest of the Fantastic Four find him. Reed describes the situation and confesses his sorrow for being selfish and forgetting that they were a team when trying to find Doom. Eventually, Reed manages to find a way back to Earth. Once they are back, they attempt to stop Dr. Doom, who is trying to conquer the world. The media goes crazy with the return of the Fantastic Four, but they are focused on stopping Doom, and they eventually manage to do so. Once they defeat Doom, Reed proposes to Sue, to which she accepts.
FANTASTIC FOUR III
On Earth, Reed Richards and Sue Storm are planning to get married, and it is huge with the media. Reed is still shaken up from everything that happened with Doctor Doom, but is soon forced to a new threat when the entire skyline appears to be engulfed in a flame. At the Baxter Building, Reed studies the situation and watches as the flames dissipate, revealing an unending field of space debris. When the rest of the Four ask Reed what is happening, a mysterious being appears who calls himself “The Watcher”. He explains that he is responsible for the atmospheric disturbances, for he has been attempting to conceal Earth's existence from the attention of the Silver Surfer. He further explains that the Surfer is the advance scout of Galactus, a powerful cosmic being that consumes the elemental energies of entire worlds, leaving them as little more than dried, lifeless husks. The Surfer investigates the Watcher's debris field and finds Earth hidden beneath it. He flies to the roof of the Baxter Building and sends out a cosmic signal for Galactus. The Fantastic Four race to the top of the building, and the Thing rams into the Surfer knocking him off the building. In the sky above, Galactus' planet devouring world ship emerges over Manhattan. The giant Galactus exits the ship and declares his intention to consume the entire world. The Fantastic Four’s attempt to reason with Galactus does not work, they attempt to attack him, but they fail at that as well. The Watcher soon discovers that Galactus’ ship has a device that could help to defeat him, and Human Torch goes after it. Meanwhile, the Silver Surfer wakes up after being unconscious in Alicia Masters’ apartment, who attempts to convince him to help Earth and defeat Galactus. The Silver Surfer is eventually convinced, and he attacks his former master. This creates time for Johnny to escape while Galactus is distracted with the device that could stop Galactus, the Nullifier. The Fantastic Four threaten to use it against Galactus, who agrees to leave Earth if he gets the Nullifier back. Reed agrees, and Galactus leaves, but leaves Silver Surfer stranded on Earth. As life resumes, Reed and Sue finally get married.
Now onto the cast....
Director - Brad Bird (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, The Incredibles)
Brad Bird has had a pretty impressive career so far, with the Oscar winning Incredibles, (which is pretty similar to Fantastic Four in a lot of ways) and his first live action film MI4. Both helped persuade me to choose him as the man i'd want helming a F4 reboot!
Patrick Wilson as Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic
(Watchmen, A Gifted Man, The A-Team, Insidious)
I know, i know, i'm getting probably as tired of this pick as you are, but it's really the best choice i could come up with. I tried to find someone other than Wilson, but it makes sense in so many ways. In Watchmen he played a superhero/vigilante, in A Gifted Man he played a genius who was very intelligent in the science division, and you put these together, and you have two characteristics of Mister Fantastic already! That's why, however unoriginal this pick can be, it is the best in my opinion.
Rachel McAdams as Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman
(Sherlock Holmes, State of Play, Mean Girls, Wedding Crashers)
McAdams is a very talented actress, and i believe she could bring some star power to the Fantastic Four films if she was chosen. I'm guessing some people will complain about how her "breasts aren't big enough for the role" which in my opinion is kind of laughable. I'd rather have a great actress first in the role, and McAdams is just that.
Lucas Till as Johnny Storm aka Human Torch
(X-Men: First Class)
Till is a very popular choice for Human Torch, and for a good reason. Although him already being in a Fox Studios movie may restrict him from being in another Fox superhero movie, i think he could bring the cockiness and swagger that the role of the Human Torch needs.
Domenick Lombardozzi as Ben Grimm aka The Thing
(The Wire, Oz)
Although i'll admit i haven't seen him in all that much, from what i have seen him in, i believe he'd be perfect for the Thing.
Christina Hendricks as Alicia Masters
(Drive, Mad Men)
Hendricks is great on Mad Men, and the same goes for Drive. I believe that the role of Alicia fits her great, and would like to see her in the role.
Stan Lee as Willie Lumpkin
Lee already played Lumpkin, why not let him do it again? I mean, he created these characters.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Victor von Doom
(Elvis, The Tudors)
Meyers has been pretty popular for this particular role for a while now, and i believe if he were to play the Fantastic Four's arch nemesis, he would excel in the role.
Billy Crudup as The Silver Surfer
(Watchmen, Public Enemies, Big Fish, The Watch)
I have to give credit where credit is due. This pick is actually CBM User MrBlueSky's. I have to agree with him, Crudup would make a great Silver Surfer. He was great as Doctor Manhattan in not only one of my favorite CBM's of all time, but favorite movies of all time, Watchmen. That performance alone should convince you he'd be great in the role.
James Earl Jones as the voice of Galactus
(Star Wars, The Lion King)
I really don't even feel i need to explain myself here, but i guess i probably should. James Earl Jones has a voice that i imagine as perfect for Galactus.
Laz Alonso as Super Skrull
(Avatar, Fast & Furious)
I believe based on his performances in the blockbuster hit Avatar and (although i didn't really enjoy the movie) the fourth Fast and Furious movie, he showed a perfect amount of ruthlesness that would make him a great Super Skrull!
Phil LaMarr as the voice of Utau the Watcher
(Marvel Ultimate Alliance)
Lamarr already voiced the character in MUA, and i mean, just go check out all the impressive voice roles he's done, and that should help you figure out that he could do this role.
That's it, i hope you liked it! No hate comments please. In the meantime, if you haven't yet, check out some of my other fancasts!
