David Rand
The first Ka-Zar, David Rand, was a typical "jungle lord" in the Tarzan vein, also known as Ka-Zar the Great, who first appeared in the pulp magazine Ka-Zar #1 (Oct. 1936) from Manvis Publishing, one of many magazine companies owned by Martin Goodman. Writer-artist Ben Thompson adapted the pulp story "King of Fang and Claw" by Bob Byrd for Goodman's first comic book, Marvel Comics #1 (Oct. 1939). In the 2000s, the David Rand Ka-Zar was integrated into mainstream Marvel continuity, in the All New Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe.
Shanna O'Hara Plunder
Shanna is a jungle adventuress and protector of the Savage Lands with her husband Ka-Zar and their pet Zabu. Though her presence in the Marvel universe has diminished, recognition among readers has risen over the years thanks to the 2005, Shanna the She-Devil series by Frank Cho. Shanna was originally created as a derivative of Sheena.

zabu was the last sabre-toothed cat in the Savage Land. Zabu was born in the Savage Land. His mother and siblings were killed by a local tribe. After that, Zabu was adopted by a pack of wolves, but ran away because he killed the eldest wolf cub in a fight for leadership.

It started when Kevin Plunder the man known as Ka-Zar had found a journal, it described a story of Jealousy and Power. During his trip to the place known as the Savage Land, he found an amusement park, that seemed to be based off Hell,
as described by Dante Alighieri in his 13th century epic, the Divine Comedy. As Kevin explored deeper he found that the 13th century writer had actually been there, seven hundred years previously. Lying on a table was the ship’s log for one Captain Dante Alighieri. Most of what is known about Belasco’s origins comes from this ancient tome. As it was read Kevin found the story.
Dante had left his home in Florence, Italy to search for a sorcerer named Belasco who practiced Alchemy and the black arts of sorcery. His goal was to contact beings that were known as the “elder gods” to gain immortality. Before he could succeed at his plan and had been discovered and convicted of acts of heresey. Instead of that being his end, Belasco escaped and took a woman named Beatrice, a woman he had longed for secretly. Yet Beatrice loved Dante who vowed to chase Belasco to the end of the world.
I think Bogosian would have been terrific. I thought his performance in "Under Siege 2" was extremely entertaining and think that kind of sadistic charisma would have translated well to the Belasco role.
Parnival Plunder was the younger of British nobleman / scientist Lord Plunder's two sons. Robert Plunder discovered the hidden Savage Land around the Antarctic Circle while searching for an undiscovered element and discovered the Anti-Metal (later determined to be an isotope of Vibranium), a substance capable of destroying the molecular bonds of any known metal. When word of his discovery leaked, Robert Plunder feared for his family's life and took his elder son Kevin to the Savage Land while sending Parnival to sea to live the life of a sailor. Believing that his older brother had been killed, Parnival established himself as the lord of Castle Plunder upon reaching adulthood. But his life as a respected British Lord was merely a front for his activities as the Plunderer, a modern-day pirate who used his father's Anti-Metal cache to produce powerful weapons that destroyed other metal-based weapons. Upon learning that Kevin Plunder had survived in the Savage Land as Ka-Zar, Plunderer clashed with his hated step-brother on several occasions in confrontations which often ended with his arrest and incarceration.

Maa-Gor is the leader of a tribe of primitive Cavemen living in the Savage Land. He was responsible for leading his people to the near-annihilation saber-tooth tigers in the Savage Land. Among them was the mate of Zabu. Zabu was tracking them down, seeking revenge. He found them about to attack a young Kevin Plunder ( Ka-Zar). Zabu attacked Maa-Gor just in time to save Kevin. He then scattered the rest of the tribesmen. Zabu failed to realize Maa-Gor had regained consciousness and was targeting the tiger with his spear. Kevin picked up the weapon of his killed father and shot Maa-Gor in the shoulder, saving the life of the tiger.
Maa-Gor held a grudge against them both that would last to the adult life of Ka-Zar.
