For starters, the idea for this script came to me in a dream. Batman, standing in the shadows, preparing to pounce on one of his greatest foes: the Penguin. Nothing else.
Then I read Batman: Earth One and loved it. The way the characters blended together. The story. The dialogue. Being the CBM fan that I am, my mind instantly began thinking of ways an adaption could work. After days of rough drafting a final plot, I came up with one.
This script will take a large chunk of inspiration from Earth One, obviously, but also several other Batman media outlets. The Arkham games. The Nolanverse, in terms of seriousness and atmosphere (although it won't be nearly as strict on superpowers, seeing as how this might be set in the same universe as a planned Superman script I've been thinking of). The Burtonverse in terms of old buildings and areas. And finally, a bit of my own storytelling, with origins and villain adaptions.
I've also developed a rough fan-cast of who I'd like to see play who. It'd go somewhat like this:
Wes Bentley as The Batman/Bruce Wayne
Sean Connery as Alfred Pennyworth
Eva Green as Vicki Vale
Bob Hoskins as Oswald Cobblepot
Mark Harmon as Lieutenant James Gordon
Ryan Gosling as Detective Edward Nigma
Jamie Alexander as Lady Shiva
Jude Law as David Cain
