Guardians of the Galaxy is one of 2014's most anticipated movie and rightfully so. It has a great cast and it's something we havent seen before from Marvel. That being said, it might be a hard sell for those who aren't comic book readers but still enjoy the Marvel movies. So, what better way to make Guardians of the Galaxy connect into the MCU but by having the genius, billionare, playboy, philanthropist himself, Mr. Tony Stark. Whether in a post-credits scene or just in the movie at the end, here are some reasons why Robert Downey Jr. will appear as Tony Stark in Guardinas of the Galaxy.

1. Notability

One thing that Guardias of the Galaxy doesn't have riding for it is notability. Hell, very few people knew who the Guardians of the Galaxy were before the movie was announced at Comic-Con in 2012. So, why not bring in the most notable star that Marvel has and have him make a small cameo or something. It would make perfect sense, especially since Iron Man is in the Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Now! series. Tony Stark showing up in some capacity would definitley help MCU fans that aren't avid comic book readers to get a grip into how this part of the universe is connected to the Avengers. Speaking of Avengers.....

2. Last Marvel Movie Before Avengers 2

With Guardians of the Galaxy being the final Phase 2 MCU movie before Avengers: Age of Ultron, it would make perfect sense for there to be a little tease for it, similar to the tease at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. Remember, originally Tony Stark was supposed to fly up into space and meet the Guardians or Peter Quill in the post-credit scene of Iron Man 3 but that got scrapped. So, why not have Stark in the post-credit scene for Guardians? It coukd be the same thing with Iron Man flying up into space or the post-credit scene could be Stark building Ultron and it could end with the red eyes and mouth lighting up. It would be a perfect way to show how important of a role Tony Stark plays in Age of Ultron without giving too much away.

3. Tony Stark Will Return

At the end of every MCU movie, it states that the hero will return. Iron Man will return, Thor will return, Captain America will return, etc. So, why at the end of Iron Man 3, does it state that Tony Stark will return, not Iron Man will return. Is it just that it means nothing or could Tony Stark "return" before Iron Man does. Maybe this is nothing, but why not say Iron Man will return at the end instead of Tony Stark will return? That's why I believe that Tony Stark, not necessarily Iron Man, but Tony Stark will show up in some capicity in Guardians of the Galaxy.

So, what do YOU think? Do you think Stark will be in Guardians or just be back for Age of Ultron? Comment Below to let me know what you think!

I've been going back and forth with this, in my lil' mind...at first, I was totally against this, thought let GotG succeed or fail on their own merits...but now I'd be on board for a cameo or small part with Tony (as Iron Man) in the film...I'm doubting it will happen, but I'd approve enthusiastically if he did...

He might make an appearance but only if Marvel makes an Avengers 2 trailer to get at the end just like last time. And I doubt they'd do that.

He may cameo but there's very little reason for him to do so. I hope they don't pull an Incredible Hulk, and use a Tony cameo in advertisements to sell the movie. If he has a cameo, it'll just be a treat for people who are already in the theater.

captain america the first avenger (the avengers trailer at the end)

guardians of the galaxy (the avengers age of ultron trailer at the end)

it might happen, fingers crossed it does.

If he does then it would only be post credits.
I think it's very clear and right that marvel want GOTG to be completely separate, at least for now.
Kevin feige has always stated that this film will be 99.9% off earth, with that 0.1% most likely being flashbacks as to how Quill is taken. Originally I thought maybe that the post creds would be an avengers link but most of the time they are the very last things to be filmed, sometimes after the premire.
I feel that GOTG will be more of a set up to the cosmic universe rather than showing how the earth heroes are
Connected. That will be saved for avengers 3, fingers crossed for infinity gauntlet, and who knows by then we may (and should) have dr strange which would help a great deal!

Also correct me if I'm wrong but the post credits with Tonys space suit was all rumor

Do we even know that he will be Iron Man, or just Tony Stark?

I doubt he'll cameo at all. It'd be neat and all, but a RDJ cameo isn't going to do a whole lot for box office for this movie. If he was just flat out IN the movie, as a supporting character, then yeah, that would push the numbers up a lot.

Otherwise, the average movie goer who doesn't really want to see this will just ask their friend who went what RDJ's scene was.

Tony won't make a cameo. It just wouldn't make sense with his story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it just wouldn't make sense for Guardians of the Galaxy. That being said, I have to believe we'll see the first Age of Ultron teaser at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy.

The mid credit scene for guardians us gonna be a real crowd pleaser while moving the story forward, aka the very first dialogue from thanos. That in itself will draw people to the movie

Awful idea.

They shouldn't put Stark in Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie will do well without him. And the franchise will be much stronger without forcing RDJ carry it. Just keep him out and let it be a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It will be much better in the long run.

There are countless other things they could do in an after credits or mid credits scene that would be better than having Stark show up. Thanos, Nova, Captain Marvel, Skrulls, Adam Warlock, Quasar(Phyla-vell), etc.

Also, you didn't really give any reasons for him to show up. All you did was say that Tony Stark is a character in the MCU and Guardians of the Galaxy is a movie set in the MCU, so he should be in it.

I don't think that the scene with Stark flying into space to meet the Guardians was ever confirmed, rather just fan speculation

Not sure he will cameo but if Stark does cameo how would he be able too? If Stark where to cameo then it would probably be at the end of the film but it would just complicate the MCU time line because Stark is going to return in Age of Ultron.
