Why Do So Many Superheroes Have Blue Eyes?

Is there an eye color bias in superhero comics? And if there is... why?

I blogged about this topic a little while ago but thought that it was an interesting point to bring up here on Comic Book Movie, and besides, the question is pretty timeless.

But... have you ever noticed how so many superheroes have blue eyes? And if you have...

Have you ever wondered WHY?

I have. It seems odd to me that so many superheroes would have this color when brown is the most prevalent eye color in the human race. And no, not all superheroes are human, but most are, so one would think that they would reflect reality, at least in terms of eye color.

Now I don't have a problem with characters with blue eyes, I'm just saying that I always thought the dominance of that eye color over others, like green or brown, was odd. No eye color is better or worse to me than another (in fact, eye color has always been an unimportant physical feature to me), but I wondered why Marvel and DC seemed to prefer that color over others.

Check out the link below to a blog post about this topic, and some more examples. Hopefully, it will be thought-provoking.
