First off, i should say this is based on an OLDER Peter Parker. Not grey hair old, but older than high school, teenager stuff. Because of this, i decided to skip the origin, plus everyone already knows it, so what would be the point of retelling it?
Also, this isn't a part of my MCU, but is rather a stand alone franchise. I am working on the next trilogy after this, which will be a Symbiote saga, Clone saga type thing. Anyways, i guess i should get on to it...
Spider-Man: Web of Illusion Based on an older Peter Parker, who has been accepted to Empire State University. He has been dating Gwen Stacy, daughter of the police captain George Stacy, for almost a year, and lives with his Aunt May at his house. Aside from being bullied because he’s a nerd, Peter’s life is pretty good. But there’s one secret he holds from everyone. He is secretly Spider-Man, an established web slinging hero who defends the innocent in New York City. He has a job as a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle, where his editor, J Jonah Jameson, is always trying to frame his alter ego. Peter struggles to live a normal life, feeling responsible for his Uncle Ben’s death. Meanwhile, Quentin Beck, illusionist who goes by the stage name of Mysterio, is the host of an illusion show that used to be big in New York, but has since gone into a B rate show at best. Feeling his honor has been humiliated, he attempts to get his show back to success by getting a guest star; Spider-Man. He feels the best way to do it would be for Spider-Man to believe it is real. He frames him for robbery, but instead of getting to the bottom of it, Parker lays low. This further frustrates Mysterio, prompting him to go after the photographer who always takes pictures of Spider-Man. He threatens those Peter loves most, and it leads to a battle of illusion between the two costumed men. Spider-Man eventually overcomes Mysterio’s illusions, and exposes him for what he really is; a menace. Spider-Man is back on the right side of the law, and Peter has met new friends, such as his college roommate Harry Osborn, and continues his relationship with Gwen. The final scene shows Norman Osborn, owner of OsCorp, world renowned scientist and Harry’s father drinking a serum that we see is labeled as the “Goblin Serum”. Spider-Man: Reign of Terror Peter Parker defeated Mysterio, and is sent by JJJ to get pictures of Norman Osborn’s unveiling of a high tech glider, which is intended to be used for military purposes. The morning after the event hass Harry telling his father that the glider has been stolen. It eventually leads to the media dubbing the goblin thief as the Green Goblin, and Osborn, who is secretly the Green Goblin, is slowly turning insane. Harry takes confide in Peter and Gwen, confessing that he’s worried about his dad for returning home last night. Which isn’t unusual except for the fact he was bloodied and bruised. Through these events it starts to become clear that Harry might have a crush on Gwen. Out at a fancy restaurant for dinner, Peter and Gwen are having a romantic night until the Green Goblin, having decoded Spider-Man’s identity, kidnaps Gwen, forcing Peter to go after them as Spider-Man. This leads to a fight on the Brooklyn Bridge. Green Goblin holds Gwen in the air, looking down on Spider-Man, who is on the top of the bridge. Spider-Man attempts to make Gwen feel safe by revealing his identity to her and ensuring her everything will be ok. Goblin drops her as Spider-Man lunges himself after her. He shoots a web around her ankle, but soon realizes she is gone. He screams out in sadness, and anger. He puts his mask back on and tracks down the Goblin to an old graveyard. He brutally beats him to a pulp, and becomes more frustrated when he realizes it was Norman Osborn, feeling betrayed. He soon realizes he can’t take a life, but jumps in the air when his Spider-sense go off. Goblin is killed with his own glider, and Peter passes out, tired, stressed and saddened by all that took place that night. He sees a blurry figure with white hair and black costume come over him as he passes out. He awakes on a rooftop, unsure what happened. He attends the funeral for both Gwen, and Norman, realizing that the latter has suffered from MPD, and feels like it wasn’t truly his fault. It ends with Parker narrating that he feels responsible for everything and that he is “Spider-Man no more”. Spider-Man: Rise Peter Parker has distanced himself from every day life since Gwen’s death. Although he is doing good at Empire State University, under Dr. Curt Connors, in the 6 months since Gwen died he has been grieving. He does have his eye on a new red head in his college, Mary Jane Watson, however. His pictures for the Daily Bugle are every day events, explaining it’s hard to get any due to Spider-Man’s disappearance. At an astronaut event that features JJJ’s son, John Jameson, a black oozy creature attaches itself to Peter, and he soon awakes later at night to find himself at the top of the Empire State Building, wearing a black costume. Peter meets the vigilante known as the Black Cat for the first time. She remembers him, revealing she was the figure who took care of him when he passed out. They bust some crime, and the media is rejoiced with his return. Meanwhile, a man working at an electrical pole tells himself he’ll quickly finish the job when he hears thunder. It turns out to be the wrong choice, however, when he is struck by lightning. While Peter starts to enjoy being Spider-Man again with Black Cat, the man who can now fire electricity from his body at free will has been stealing electrical equipment to keep himself alive, using it to charge himself. After stopping a crime, a flirtatious Black Cat kisses Spider-Man. Initially hesitant, he soon does the same. After hearing a scream, they go to an electrical industry, where Electro is stealing equipment. Attempting to approach him, Spider-Man is quickly brushed away by Electro, and Black Cat goes to make sure he’s ok while Electro escapes. The first sign of the Spidey black suit rage is shown when he criticizes her for letting Electro escape, and swings into the night by himself. Meanwhile, a photographer who was at the scene by the name of Eddie Brock shows JJJ a photograph that depicts Spider-Man as the man who has stolen all the equipment. JJJ uses this for his paper, causing uproar in New York. Peter is told by his aunt that Harry has had a drug overdose. Mary Jane, who had been dating him before breaking it off, feeling he was too focused on killing Spider-Man. Peter and MJ have an intimate moment before pretending like it didn’t happen when Harry awakes. Peter blasts into Harry, because of the rage of the symbiote, telling him things such as he is a disgrace to the Osborn name. Peter soon finds a similar photo from an old Daily Bugle to that of the one Brock used to frame Spider-man. This gets Brock fired, and Daily Bugle is forced to print a retraction. After refusing to team up with Electro, a fight between him and black suited Spidey soon leads to a church with a large bell, where Black Cat soon arrives. After Black Cat is knocked unconscious, Spidey eventually defeats Electro when he becomes weak and there is nowhere near for him to charge himself. The only thing stopping him from killing Electro is Black Cat telling him not to cross over the line of hero and vigilante. She tells him she is done with crime fighting and they share one last kiss before she leaves. Peter gets rid of the suit, thanks to the bell. (Loud noises aggravate symbiotes). Peter apologizes to his friends for his rude ways, and, after Harry telling him he was fine with it, asks out MJ, to which she agrees. The last scene of the 1st trilogy shows Eddie Brock working out beside a bulletin of articles depicting Spidey as a villain. He soon hears something, and it is the symbiote over taking him. Well, that's the end of the stories for the first trilogy, here's the fancast.
Director: Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men: First Class)
We all saw what he did with an X-Men movie that most people seemed to not want. Not only did he revitalize the X-Men franchise, but he also proved that he is a great director, capable of handling big casts and CBM's. I'd like to see what he could do with a Spider-Man franchise.
Co-Writers: Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman (Kick Ass, X-Men: First Class)
Goldman is no stranger to CBM's either, having worked with Vaughn on both of his. I think if Vaughn has creative control, as long as having a talented writer in Goldman help him, they could really put together a great Spidey franchise.
Adam Brody as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man
I really, really like Garfield as Spider-Man, but like i said earlier, this is based on a slightly older Spider-Man, in which case Brody would be perfect! He looks very young too. I'll admit that i watched The OC, where his character was in a lot of ways similar to Peter Parker. He was perfect at playing a cocky, sometimes arrogant nerd, and a lot of times reminded me of Spider-Man. If there is ever a movie based off an older Spider-Man, i'm convinced Adam Brody is the guy to do it.
Dianna Agron as Gwen Stacy
Agron was actually on a shortlist of actresses to play Stacy in Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot, but lost to Emma Stone. Mostly known from Glee, but i really liked her in "I Am Number Four", where she played a seemingly innocent girl, who could be argued to be similar to Gwen in a lot of ways. I think she could've, and could, make a great Gwen.
Meryl Streep as Aunt May
I think i've seen this choice before, but nevertheless, Streep is an incredible actress who could really help bring the character of Aunt May to life, even though there's not that great of chance she'd sign to do a CBM. (You never know, though)
Michael Douglas as Uncle Ben (Flashbacks)
I know i said skip the origin, but you'd have to show Uncle Ben at some point, in flashbacks, you just have to. Martin Sheen in my mind is the perfect Uncle Ben, but Douglas could probably give him a run for his money.
Chace Crawford as Harry Osborn
Crawford would make a great older Harry, playing the jealous role, and eventually insane role. He could really transform the character to heights never seen, in my mind.
Dennis Quaid as Captain George Stacy
I think Quaid would make a great father of Gwen, and it would be a recurring role, as i don't have him dying early, so i believe that he would be a great George Stacy!
Hugh Laurie as J Jonah Jameson
I realize this choice has been suggested many, many times. But, if there's any one who could come close to JK Simmons, i'm convinced it would be Hugh Laurie, solely based off his work on "House".
Dennis Haysbert as Robbie Robertson
Robbie is the reason to JJJ's biased reporting. He is a voice of reason, and tries to defend Spider-Man, usually to no avail. Haysbert not only looks like Robbie in my mind, but also has the innocent look that knows the truth, and would be willing to stand up to JJJ when he presents biased Spidey papers.
Deborah Ann Woll as Mary Jane Watson
If you need an older MJ, i'm pretty sure Deborah Ann Woll would nail the part. Mostly known from True Blood, she already has red hair, but aside from that, is a pretty good up and coming actress, who could really break out with the role of Spider-Man's 2nd love, although it would just be a minor role in the 1st trilogy. (I don't introduce her until #3)
Simon Baker as Dr. Curt Connors
I don't have him turning into the Lizard at all in my Spider-Man franchise, so i assume this would be more a role like Dr. Connors has in Raimi's movies. Baker's work on "The Mentalist" is amazing, and totally convinced me that he would own the part of Curt Connors!
Zooey Deschanel as Betty Brant
Deschanel is a really fun actress to watch, in "New Girl" she earned a Golden Globe nomination for her performance, and i think she would not only be a good Betty Brant for my franchise, but also in the current reboot series.
Sam Witwer as Eddie Brock
Witwer, in my mind, could own as Eddie Brock, who we last see in #3 turning into Venom. He's a great young actor who deserves a big role like Eddie Brock!
Matthew Goode as Quentin Beck aka Mysterio
There are two ways to imagine Mysterio. One; as a s=highly successful illusionist who is viewed as a hero to counter Spider-Man's "villain" antics, such as in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, or Two: An isolated, depressed individual who targets Spider-Man as a result of his failures as an illusionist. I chose a mixture between the two, depressed, former illusion star but now a man who takes to framing Spider-Man to get him to guest star on his illusion stage show. Goode is no stranger to CBM's (Watchmen), and i think he could completely nail the part of one of my favorite Spider-Man villains, and someone i'd really like to see on the big screen, Mysterio!
Gary Sinise as Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin
There are so many great choices to play Norman Osborn in a Spider-Man reboot, and Sinise is no exception. I actually believe he could nail Green Goblin, and compete with Willem Dafoe's great performance as the character.
January Jones as Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat
I believe this is the choice that i'll take the most criticism for, because apparently i'm one of the few who actually liked her in X-Men: First Class. But she is a fantastic actress, and i think she would be able to be a great older Black Cat.
Ben Foster as Max Dillon aka Electro
This choice is probably getting tiring, but i believe the reason it keeps getting thrown out there is because Foster is a really underrated actor, who deserves to be Electro.
