Hans Zimmer On The Possibility Of Scoring MAN OF STEEL 2

We know that the composer will once again work with Christopher Nolan on Interstellar, but after that? Zimmer discusses being "done with Batman", and reveals whether or not he has an open invitation from WB to return to work on Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel sequel..

In a revealing interview with The Huffington Post, the man responsible for some of the most iconic film scores out there discusses teaming with the likes of Christopher Nolan, and his most recent work on Ron Howard's Rush. Of course he also provided the excellent score for Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel, and many expect he will return for the Batman VS Superman themed sequel..but nothing is set in stone! Zimmer says that he has to see what happens closer to the time. "I thought I was done with Batman. I have to think about that. I have to think about how that fits into what I want to do next." He's then asked if he has an "open invitation from Warner Bros. to return for "Man of Steel 2".

"It's not really like that. I think it's really important for everybody to always take a deep breath and have a think about it. "Do we really want to embark on this journey?" Because the question really is: Do I have anything new to say? Is there anything I could add that I haven't done already? When we did "Batman Begins," we saw that as an autonomous movie. We never knew we were going to do two and three. Everybody thinks, "Oh, of course you did!" If you think about it, though, we never knew. Like, in "Lord of the Rings," everyone knew that the little guy was going to throw the ring in the volcano. We never had that. At the same time, of course, my mandate was treat each one as an autonomous movie, but you can't shift stylistically quite that much. The fun thing is if you can shift stylistically, that's what you want to do. For better or for worse, you want to reinvent yourself every time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't."

Yeah..I think he'll be back! But would you guys like to see (or should I say hear) that happen? Or would you prefer some new blood? Sound off below.

I like Zimmers scores, but I think we should give a new composer a chance. Still keep the Man of Steel theme, but someone new for Batman.

His theme was good but Elfman's is still the best Batman.

If comes back and he should do a new batman theme leave Nolan trilogy alone.

He will probably make a Superman/Batman theme rather than a solo Superman theme and a solo Batman theme.

Love his work, especially on Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Trilogy. I think he needs to come back for Man Of Steel 2, but we need a new Batman theme to distinguish the new Batman more from the old one. Nothing from TDK trilogy should be used in this new movie. If that means a co-composer needs to be hired to score Batman's scenes, maybe that's the best way to go. But Hans needs to at least do the main stuff with Superman.

Exactly, he should move on with other projects. He's done a fantastic job with the Dark Knight Trilogy but I was not impressed at all with the Man of Steel score.

I'm conflicted here, mostly because I think his Man of Steel stuff was brilliant and I really really think it's important that we continue hearing that theme play every time Henry Cavill's Superman is on screen (unlike, say, with the Marvel movies where none of the characters have a consistent theme). But, at the same time, I think having him back while Batman is ALSO in the movie is a bad thing, simply because I think a new Batman means a new theme for him, and if Zimmer were scoring the whole thing he'd probably use his old Batman theme again.

But then, he might recognize this (being a smart composer) and try to do something new with a Batman theme... but that too might not work as he'd be fighting against... himself...

I think what might be good is for them to bring on a second composer for the Batman stuff. That way Zimmer can focus on expanding his Man of Steel motifs (which, like I said, were brilliant) while a new guy gets to come up with a new theme for a new Batman.

But that's just me...

@DaVinci31 I have all of Zimmer's scores from the Nolan Trilogy and the theme from Arkham City was totally influenced from Dark Knight Trilogy its almost a blatant ripoff. Why would he take inspiration from something that took inspiration from his own work?

@Dmon I didn't listen to the song, I thought it was another.

I just want it to have more of an obscure tone and have the feeling an of Opera and the stuff they play in Cathedrals. Rather than Crime/Thriller/Cop kinda vibe. I never really liked his take on the Batman score, just not for me. The MOS soundtrack is mind blowingly awesome though.

@JediPhilosopher

Can you please quit complaining with this film already? Every time there is a news update on this website for this movie you have to make a stupid remark. Yes, voice your opinion, but don't go to pages where you know you wouldn't provide anything constructive to the subject.
