FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot Unlikely To Share Universe With The X-MEN
A few weeks ago, we learned that Josh Trank's Fantastic Four weren't likely to crossover with Bryan Singer's X-Men in a future film, but now, thanks to an interview with writer Simon Kinberg, we're hearing that the two super-teams may not even exist in the same shared film universe! Check it out!
In an excerpt from a new interview conducted by ScreenCrush, X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg shared some details about his next film, the upcoming Josh Trank-directed Fantastic Four reboot. When asked if the X-Men from Bryan Singer's film would share the same universe as Trank's Fantastic Four, Kinberg had this to say:
"Well, it’s complicated. Because none of the X-Men movies have acknowledged the notion of a sort of superhero team — the Fantastic Four. And the Fantastic Four acquire powers, so for them to live in a world where mutants are prevalent is kind of complicated, because you’re like, “Oh, you’re just a mutant.” Like, “What’s so fantastic about you?"
ScreenCrush: “We have powers … just like that team down the street.”
Kinberg: "Right, right. Exactly, “So, I guess we’ll go to school now. We’ll go to Xavier’s school.” No, it is, they live in discrete universes."
Of course, this could always just be classic misdirection, but what do you guys think of the news? Will the X-Men and Fantastic Four stay in separate universes or will they crossover? What is Fox's secret Marvel project that is slated to release July 13, 2018? Sound off below.
