In an interview with
io9, Bill Willingham creator the popular comic series
Fables briefly talked about any news he had on the chances of seeing the previously announced
Fables TV series originally set to air on
ABC in 2008:
None whatsoever. I am the last person to know about things like that. Through rumors of rumors of mistellings of legends, I understand that the new DC regime was very much interested in getting Fables going. The TV show that was prematurely announced is probably dead — don't hold me to that, because I don't know. Hopefully, I'll know before it airs, but I'm kind of out of the loop.
So with no known(if any) start date and no news from the comic's creator we can not even be sure when or if we will see the comic series hit the silver screen. Here is a brief description for anyone unfamiliar with the series via
Wikipedia:
Fables is a comic book series created by writer Bill Willingham, published by DC Comic's Vertigo imprint beginning in 2002. The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as "Fables" – who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at "the Farm" in upstate New York.
