Having thrived and evolved for eight consecutive decades in the public imagination- in prose and graphics, on the big screen and small, in games and properties of all kinds- Conan's exploits in the Hyborian Age now come alive like never before in a colossal 3D action-adventure film. A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

The "look" of this film {e.g. costumes, set} are pretty bad ass. But I'm not so sure this film will be good nor do well in the Box Office.

@WellDrawn

haha, he would.

Looks a lot more like Howard's Conan than Arnold.Still all Cimmerians are supposed to have jet black hair and blue eyes.Maybe they'll get the attitude right anyway.

Eversince the Momoa's dredlocks I was a hater--but now things are looking convincingly great especially the make-up props and costume . I don't mind if it has a so-so sfx /Cgi or over the top a mindless violence. Whhat Im concern is the dialogue-- if Conan or any of the casts starts to get too eloquent or sounds too campy or has urban accent than everything is lost.

Ohh I'm really hoping for an awsome musical score.Basil Poloudoris original Conan theme was one of the main reason the first movie was such an epic.

"DO THE HATERS BELIEVE ARNOLD'S IS THE END ALL BE ALL CONAN?"-GUNSMITH

It's hard to tell. The LOVERS are the main group that bring up Arnold.

But to answer the question, Arnold's WILL BE the end all be all to Conan if a better Conan doesn't come out.

Looks like it will be brutal.
About the director, even some bad directors can make good movies sometimes..
Paul WS Anderson sucks, but I loved Event Horizon, and Death Race, Schumacher directed Lost Boys and Falling down which are both great, and Michael Bay directed The Rock which is just pure awesome..

Arnold was about as accurate a Conan as Keanu Reeves was as John Constantine. I don't believe that this movie is going to be anything special, but I'm tired of hearing about all of the garbage regarding the "Arnold Conan" as being superior when the [frick]ing film hasn't even come out yet. The only way to ease some people's butthurt status would have been to cast Arnold as Conan's father. Let's just see the film before final judgement is passed. That way we can avoid the same premature mouth-shitting that caused several people to "eat crow" after they incorrectly predicted how some movies would perform this summer (you know who you are, you naughty bastards, you!)

Momoa has a lot in his favor. His Conan doesn't grow up a slave. He looks much like what Conan should look like, based on the books (darker hair, hairy chest, scars, steroid-free). He's faster and more agile. He doesn't have a totally wrong accent. He is guaranteed to have more dialogue, based on an early review of the novelization.

This isn't a straight adaptation of the books, but more of a distillation of the Conan property - including the Arnold films - plus their own spin on things.

So Conan's an orphan seeking revenge again, but that isn't his purpose in life, his character is closer by far to the books (he even quotes lines directly), the look is inspired by Dark Horse and Frazetta, and Age of Conan is going to have new content based on the movie.

But the contemporary rock music in the trailers don't fit at all.

Momoa cracks me up he is coked out or drunk in just about every interview i've seen him in lol. At the UFC fights on Saturday he was absolutely hammered and/or high during his interview.

http://www.conanmovieblog.com/2011/07/04/jason-momoa-at-ufc-132/

for more info on the interview. He however was really nice and super excited about the movie and 'honored' to have the role.

@Kalabog-totally agree with ya there! Poledouris' soundtrack MADE that film! I actually own the soundtrack and can picture the film perfectly in my head as the music plays. I read somewhere that he's passed away, tho. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If he has, that's pretty sad. The man that gave us great scores for movies such as Conan, Robocop and Total Recall, just to name a few. I THINK he also did Starship Troopers which also had a very distinctive score.

@Yogath-there's a novelization??? If I'm not able to find the script to a new movie coming out, I always try to get the novelization. For some reason..I've just GOT to spoil the surprises for myself. Drives my wife crazy.

and lastly @Rulk-yes, Nispel has directed some stinkers..but c'mon...his "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" reboot, in MY opinion, beat the original by far! And yes, before all of you haters start figuring out ways to murder me for that statement, I am a die-hard horror fan, was raised on horror films as a child in the 70's and 80's. Saw the original at the drive-in. And..altho it was scary for it's time...just has not stood the test of time. The reboot blew me away! A very good re-imagining! Hopefully Nispel can pull off that same miracle with this film!

@preacher

- Poledouris died years ago. They got Tyler Bates for this. But the new score's been described as "Old World barbaric", not 300 redux or Poledouris redux. He has huge shoes to fill.

- Info about the novelization can he found here: http://www.conanmovieblog.com/2011/06/25/a-review-of-the-conan-novelization-surfaces/ Anyone still thinking this is a "remake" can just take a look at this.

- Yes, those are Picts.

Im not really feeling the trailers. They could have been done much better and from what I can see, the film dosnt look that good. Its really look like the same old, same old. From A to B. People die, Hero rises, Hero gets girl. If they were going to do thaty the should have just remade 1982 Conan the Barbarian, with James Earl Jones as the. Great Villain, Big snakes, magicians, epic fights.

[frick] the haters, this movie looks more and more badass every time I see something new about it. THIS is the look of the Conan I've read in novels and comics and I get a strong Frazetta feel to its artistic influence.

Rulk, the Chainsaw Massacre remake trumped the original in every way and was actually a good film. I'm not a fan of the horror genre as I find horror flics to be way to predictable and nothing to be frightening about them, but that was a good one. However, to each his own ;)

Yes, this movie looks way badass!

Rose McGowan looks wicked, and Momoa is gonna be a brutal Conan.

Can't wait!
