Spill.com is reporting that J.J Abrams, the director of Star Trek and the upcoming Super 8, will produce a theatrical adaptation of "Boilerplate: History's Mechanical Marvel". If you don't know what that is, it is, as Spill.com explains it, "a tale of historical fiction centered on the world's first robot who participated in some of the world's most important events including fighting alongside Teddy Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia."

The project will be co-produced by Deborah Newmyer (The Ugly Truth) and financed through Abrams' Bad Robot Productions.
