Keira Knightley Takes on Tinkerbell in Neverland

When Syfy airs its four-hour miniseries Neverland this December, it will feature Pirates of the Caribbean alumni Keira Knightley as the voice of Tinkerbell and star Rhys Ifans, Anna Frield, Bob Hoskins, Charles Dance, Raoul Trujillo and Charlie Rowe.

The writer/director of Neverland is Nick Willing, who directed both Tinman and Alice.

Deadline describes the film as being a prequel to J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, focusing on "Peter (Rowe) who, along with his pals of young pickpockets, have been rounded up by their mentor Jimmy Hook (Ifans) to snatch a magical orb that transports them to another world - Neverland. Filled with white jungles and imposing cities formed out of trees created by Dr. Fludd (Dance) and inhabited by a colony of tree spirits led by Tinker Bell (Knightley), this mysterious realm welcomes unknown friends and enemies snatched from time. These include power-mad Elizabeth Bonny (Friel) and her band of 18th century pirates who search for the answer to eternal youth, a secret guarded by a Holy Man (Trujillo). As the fight to save this strange and beautiful world escalates, Peter and his crew consider that growing old somewhere in time could be less important than growing up -- right here in their new home called Neverland."

I like the concept of modernizing fairy tales, and from what I saw of tinman they did a pretty good job. And it helps that Keira's HOT! Hopefully she's not just voicing some cgi character.

Check out my Flash movie ideas, the article's over in fan fic!

Hoskins back as Smee is pretty epic.
@jimbo Dude everyone knows what Peter Pan is about.
Peter Pan is also considered a fairy tale, as it was originally a short fantastical narrative with a lesson, before it was made into a play. That is a textbook example of the term.

Excuse me, could somebody please find Nick Willing's library card, take him to his local library, and stand over him while he reads "Peter and Wendy". The concept for this miniseries sounds just plain stupid.

@Ed - I'm with Marvel72. That pic of her is the only reason I clicked on this article and actually makes her look like a woman, not a little boy. Post it here so we can see a larger version :)

@jimoakley666: not to mention....didn't the book have darker implications of Youth and Innocence(Innocence not automatically meaning good) due to them being too young to truly know right from wrong?

@Brashlight - Thanks man! Like you, I'm a connoisseur of boobs and I have to agree with you about hers. That pic is nice, but in reality she has mosquito bites.

I don't know about this adaption, I liked the wizard of oz one, the alice one was kinda weird but we'll see.

As for kiera knightley, glad it's just her voice. I can't stand to look at her especially when she does that stupid pouty thing.

she doesnt even need to wear a top...

lucas could re-shoot scenes from episode 1 and she would still be able to play the queens decoy.

that wasnt even her thigh at the end of POTC- world's end.. it was too thick.. to meaty

@jimoakley666 Actually Star Wars is considered a heroes journey with folklore elements like the Odyssey. That is not the definition of a fairy tale dude, they don't have to be set like that. This is the definition of a fairy tale "Fairy tale is an English language term for a type of short narrative corresponding to the German term Märchen, the Swedish saga, or the Italian fiaba. Only a small number of the stories thus designated explicitly refer to fairies."
Märchen -folktale characterized by elements of magic or the supernatural, such as the endowment of a mortal character with magical powers or special knowledge; variations expose the hero to supernatural beings or objects. The German term Märchen, used universally by folklorists, also embraces tall tales and humorous anecdotes; although it is often translated as “fairy tale,” the fairy is not a requisite motif.

Peter Pan is quite literally a FAIRY TALE..

@jimoakley666 I see your point now. I guess we will just have to call it a fictional adventure, like Barrie. I've read Kim's Anno Dracula book, but I've never read any of his journalistic work.
I completely agree about the name calling, though. It's hard to find a good debate on here where someone doesn't blatantly insult you.

Does anyone think this will be better than that Peter Pan Begins thing that Channing Tatum is attached to or worse?

Place your bets lol.
