A Temparary rerelease of the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy will be happening some time (maybe not soon), but our first batch of details on the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy Extended Edition have hit the net via AMAZON.

Amazon have set their pre-oreder price at $83.99, with a retails price of $119.00 when it hits store shelves. As to when it will hit store shelves, it's still an unknown factor. The Trilogy set currently has no date of release.

Also (according to the reports of BLEEDINGCOOL) this offer has not shown up on any international Amazon's, so as of know it may only be released in the US.

Amazon also has a trailer (that due to lack of an embed code, I can not post) for the LOTR trilogy rerelease that can be found on it's Amazon page.

I have the threatrical blu rays and that is good enough for me, and even those are a little too long with regards to running time.

I patiently waited for this release; it was difficult NOT buying the Theatrical Blu Ray, but this is how it was intended to be seen!

I never got into Lord of the Rings but this excites me for some reason that I might just shell out the dough & buy them. (sigh) if only someone would make the X-Men film series the length of these films have I'd be in X-Heaven lol

Been waiting for these, avoided getting the extended dvds and theatrical blu rays, it'll suck donkey balls if these are only released in the US. Although HMV.co.uk have them listed for pre-order if I remember correctly.

Been waiting too long. The main thing is each feature better be spread over two discs, because if they cram all that data onto one disc they will have to compress the crap out of it, and that is EXACTLY what it will look like.......crap.

Blu-Ray at it's lowest compression rate (highest quality) can hold just over two hours of 1080p video on average. Each one of these features with bonus material will end up around 4 hours give or take. This needs to be a six disc box set. They must NOT compress each film onto one disc. If they do, then they can keep it.

So, got any info on how many discs are contained in that cool looking box???

VeritasAequitas - 3/7/2011, 11:22 AM
I'm betting they will have at least 2 disc's for each movie. One for the film itself and the other for all of the bonus material. They might even use Dual Layer Blu-Ray Disc's with can hold 50 gigabytes of info on them a piece. Which is just a crazy amount of storage space.
