New THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Stills Introduce Theo And Bronwyn

Prime Video (via SFF Gazette) has shared a pair of new promo stills for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, giving Tolkien fans a first look at two characters who did not feature in the recent teaser trailer: Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi) and Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin).

Though these Middle Earth denizens were actually teased in the initial batch of posters, they were only shown from the chest down like everyone else. They both appear to be newly created characters for this show, and descriptions have not been released.

Based on these images, though, we'd guess that Theo is a Harfoot (a proto-Hobbit, basically), and while Bronwyn certainly has an Elven look about her, the ears would suggest that she's human!

Check out the stills below, and keep an eye out for a new trailer very soon.

Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to premiere on Friday, September 2.

Might be too early, but I just can't imagine this show will be a hit.

I'm not sure how to feel about a Lord of the Rings character being named Theo.

@MUTO123 - I thought that too at first, but then remembered Sam! Maybe Theo will turn out to be short for something.

@MUTO123 - every other character has an elaborate name, and they go with a common name like Theo, i don't know why they don't stick with the lore and story, nothing they come up with Will live up to Tolkiens worldbuilding

Also a lot of this team working on this show already butchered one of my favorite book series of all time so why not kill two birds with one stone.

@MrDandy - that series never stood a chance because they were all in on this. That show woulda needed a Peter Jackson type to pull off a live action adaption.

@McMurdo - Wheel of Time was still more expensive than the first two seasons of Game of Thrones and both Witcher seasons yet looked way worse and was definitely written and directed worse.

@MrDandy - agreed. They had all the talent working on Rings. And even then it may still be awful. Need to see an actual trailer sooner than later.

Minor question but why is the black elf the only elf with a super short modern haircut?

At least in Conan James Earl Jones had long hair.

Come on Amazon…

@AnthonyVonGeek - A: Elves aren't real, B: Katt Williams' hair is not historically accurate.

@AnthonyVonGeek - Guy went down to the corner barbershop in the southside jects of Rivendell for that dope ass fade. You know the one with all the old timers sittin' around jawin' and shit?

@UncleHarm1 - Ah yes, the ol' "[insert noun] isn't even real bro" defense... the staple for the defenders of the lazy and incompetent.

@AnthonyVonGeek - Ah [frick] it, I’ll say it: Why is there a black elf when there wasn’t a single one in the entire movie series or, erm, you know, the books?

Bring it [foo foo]s.

Diversity casting in middle age tv shows and movies always throw me off. Even on Game of Thrones, it felt very CW.

After having watched Wheel of Time, I'm not sure how to feel about this. It wasn't bad or anything, but it didn't do anything special either. Just a really general high fantasy show.
