The Complete LOTR gaming franchise will have a new lease on life as WB will now be in control of its online future as well.

The Lord of the Rings franchise and also the Dungeons and Dragons online video games, that were developed by Turbine, Inc., now will be under the direction of the House of DC: Warner Bros.

A press release from Turbine itself informs about the acquisition, describing the company as "the largest privately-held online gaming studio in North America". (No wonder why Warner wanted it)

To us ComicBook and Sci-Fi fans, it is notable since Turbine´s best known franchises are both Internet-gaming titles such as Dungeons & Dragons Online®: Eberron Unlimited™, "the world’s best free-to-play massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG)" and The Lord of the Rings Online™, "the first and only MMORPG based on the books of J.R.R. Tolkien."

Though WB already had complete game rights over the LOTR franchise, the said online version was missing from Warner´s control; now, with this operation: "..all games rights for the LOTR franchise will be unified under the Warner Bros. shield".

We are more familiar with other WB's game franchises that include the often well received fan-favorites Batman titles,as well as F.E.A.R., Mortal Kombat and LEGO.

Black@ yeah just the gaming rights. apparently that Turbine studios held the Online rights, so WB wanted to have 100% of the LOTR gamiing stuff and well Money talk$$$. (curious they don´t mention the amount, mmmhh)

Hela@ it may come true sooner than later since MGM is near bankruptcy i think, which is something Marvel as a company suffered a decade ago (well not the selling of MGM itself, BUT SELLING FRANCHISES LIKE BOND OR THE HOBBIT,THAT´S A GIVEN MARK MY WORDS!!)

Nice if WB overhauled the graphics on the LOTR online to resemble that of the movies now they have the licences.
