While
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is basically the story of Johnny Blaze fighting his personal demon as well as the actual demon Blackout, there is a little more to it and one person is poised to be a standout in the sequel- Idris Elba as Moreau.
Moreau is a French, alcoholic, warrior monk rarely without a jug of wine or a gun. Moreau is supposed to bring much of the comedic elements, but he also shares some more dramatic moments as well.
MTV spoke with Elba at a press junket and asked about his character.
Elba said that this story isn't just super powers, it's about a demon inside of The Rider. Speaking of powers, one interesting thing Elba said is that Moreau has a sort of super power, he is able to talk to spirits. He has this power that comes out of his eyes that allows him to communicate with spirits.
Moreau is a troubled man. He's a priest, or a monk if you like. A religious man. His heart is good, but he's kind of fallen off the rails. But he's the go to guy to find people who don't want to be found. He's that guy.
Moreau speaks to Johnny Blaze and [tries to] get him to revoke [the spirit of vengeance]. It was good fun for me to play. He's charismatic, but at the same time, the central storyline between me and Nic is very real.
Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze in Columbia Pictures' and Hyde Park Entertainment's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Johnny Blaze still struggles with his curse as the devil's bounty hunter and is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciarn Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.
The cast includes Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba, Christopher Lambert, Johnny Whitworth, Violante Placido and Ciarán Hinds.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will be hitting theatres this Friday.
