Nic Cage Uncertain About Returning For Ghost Rider 2

The actor claims not to have heard anything about the planned sequel and was uncertain when asked about his future with the character...

This from MTV's Splash Page:

"Yeah, well I don’t really know how to answer that," Cage said when MTV asked whether or not he was still attached. "Because I don’t have all the details."

When asked whether he would be reuniting with 'Ghost Rider' co-star Eva Mendes, the actor was again uncertain, "I don’t know if we’ll reunite again. I don’t know where Eva’s at on that."

"I have to be careful about how I answer these questions about ‘Ghost Rider’," he explained. "Because if I say anything, it seems to set the Internet ablaze."

Still, at least he cares enough to still be talking about the franchise two years later, right?

"Yeah," Cage agreed. "Yeah, but I really don’t want to talk about it right now."

I hope GR2 happens. Despite it's flaws, I enjoyed the first one.

ghost rider was the worst CBM yet. i'd watch fantastic four before that garbage

Welllll, I wouldn't go that far dude! I thought it had its moments..granted they were few and far between. They just completely [frick]ed up the ending. If the ending of a movie is bad it taints the whole thing. Wes Bently was atrocious as Blackheart, Mendes was shite, ..actually it really was pretty bad wasn't it? haha. I liked when Ghost Rider himself was onscreen.

I thought the movie was good .. .And damn it if they give me Mendes in a string bikini ... i will be a happy man ... ;-)

The only thing good about the movie was that the design of Ghost Rider was pretty much straight from the comics. The rest of the movie was horrible, and I hope unless they plan on making it R rated, so we can get some crazy ass demons and all that leave this horse alone and let it die.

CDB: NOTHING was worse than Fantastic Four!!! ;D

The first movie was pretty awful really so I can say Im dying for a sequel! With Thor, Captain America, Spider-MAn 4 and The Avengers on the horizon this would be far down on my list of CBM priorities anyway really!

ror

what about when GR was swinging his chain over his head and he yelled, "YEEEE-HAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!"? the whole thing was camp. and worse than that, is it was camp in a movie that should register NEGATIVE on the camp meter! it should have to have camp ADDED to it, just so it could break even and have no camp.

now how does that happen?? how does someone who claims to be such a huge GR fan manage to miss the mark by so much??

FF was campy as hell, but you know what? the FF ARE campy. lol at least the tone of the FF movies were right (even if that is all that was right)

@CorndogBurglar - You're forgetting Elektra. Ghost Rider is slightly under Daredevil (the theatrical release)in terms of best to worst.

I'd like to see Ghost Rider get a bit more cult, bring to Mephisto's plane really ham up that aspect. Explore that Zarathos thing, make it supernatural in that sense.

No argument CDB, I just enjoyed it a bit more than FF..maybe I was in a good mood! But I reckon its because I was never a GR comic fan..nor was I much of a FF comics fan, but I just seemed to role my eyes more at those movies...

I hope to God in heaven he doesn't come back, but he's so desperate right now, we'll see him "acting" again as Johnny.

Ghost Rider was f*cking horrible. One of the worst CBM's of recent memory, and Cage was one of the absolute worst parts of the movie.

It may not be as garbagey as Fantastic Four 1/2, but it is damn close.

@WeaponX - Speaking of Daredevil, I just got the director's cut. What a far superior film than the theatrical release! I really wish Hollywood would stop underestimating and insulting the intelligence of the average movie goer and give us story and character development over fast pacing. Everyone loves a non-stop action movie, for sure, but just because a movie has action in it, doesn't mean the rest of the film should suffer. So I say give us a Ghost Rider we can all be proud of.

I like nic cage as an actor and I cant wait to see him in KICK-ASS, but he was soooo wrong for jonny blaze!

Ghost Rider was OK just above Electra and just below
daredevil (that's right i'd rather watch DD then GR)

GR did have it's moments, but not that many!

DD was a great movie! I can't understand why it gets lumped in with the shite. Ok, it had some big problems, but over all it really worked for me. But then again, I liked Ang Lee's Hulk too so what do I know!

The see saw scene killed that movie. What the hell where they thinking when they put that in there? I actually didnt mind the movie.

JOSH @ It might be because you didn't actually put a POLL in it dude, do that an they might change their mind.

GHOST RIDER, HULK and DAREDEVIL were all good movies, not excellent like IRON MAN but they all was a good bit of fun!!

Electra not so much lol! ; D

I really liked Daredevil too. I have yet to see the Director's Cut, but the original was really good IMO. The only thing I honestly hated was the park battle scene, which pretty much everyone else hated.

But the movie was gritty, violent, and just bad-ass, I really dug it, the action especially. They made the hand-to-hand combat really intense.

Ya DareDevil was a great film, alot of people
underestimate it, the park fight scene was a bit
of a miss step but otherwise a great movie!

and they got the costume right;) LOL

@MatchesMalone - The Director's Cut is the copy I own as well. It's amusing that what was left on the cutting room floor for the theatrical release was actually enough to develop a second sub plot and tie the film up in a much neater and fulfilled way, resulting in a more coherent and complete film. It was $10 well spent.

Dare Devil was a decent movie, director's cut kicked it up a notch for the better but I wouldn't go as far as great. It did have great moments but, I think, the whole film was crippled with hokey dialog and poor casting topped with too many cringe worthy scenes, however, not enough to completely pan the movie.

Ghost Rider was in a similar boat and if they do a second film, I hope they're able to pin point what hurt the film and fix it. Nic Cage would be one of those points that hurt the film. He just did not take the work serious at all and it showed.

Bigdaddy, you thought Ghost Rider was better than the first 2 X movies? Give me some f what your smoking please! Hell, all of the movies you mention were better than GR.
BigdaddyBooth
BigdaddyBooth - 11/30/2009, 4:04 PM
Well Rorschach out of curiosity did you see wolverine????YES THATS RIGHT THEY TURNED DEAD POOL INTO BARAKA FROM MORTAL KOMBAT WHO CAN SHOOT LASERS OUT OF HIS EYES!!..........yeah cause that happened in the comic and freak'n spider man 3 yes venom got raped. guy they got to play him was dead on right?, and lets try to get past Sam Raimi's Tim Burton Complex where he has to kill off every villian.Just for the record I just personally thought they just could have done a better job with the script for the X-men movies they got the right people to play them but not so much the story, and Hugh Jackman could have been a bit more angry......I'm just saying you really shouldn't bash the movie.....cause at least it wasn't X-men origins.

I also liked DD, an the first Hulk (except for the end). However off Origins was it did not cause me pain like Watching GR. GR made my eyes and ears bleed it sucked so bad.

BigdaddyBooth- He shot "lasers" from his eyes
because they gave him cyclops
optical powers. they combined
a bunch of mutants powers together,
that's how "weapon XI" (not deadpool)
was made.. understand the story before
you yell at someone!
