ARROW EP Marc Guggenheim Says ARROW Will Never Be The Same After Ra's Al Ghul

The Demon's Head will reportedly completely change The CW's Arrow after he crosses swords with Starling City's Emerald Archer."What's really cool about Ra's coming to the fore is [that] his presence changes the show. Literally, the show will not be the same after [S03E09]."

According to Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim, Matt Nable's Ra's Al Ghul will completely change the landscape of the show. "What's really cool about Ra's coming to the fore is [that] his presence changes the show. Literally, the show will not be the same after [S03E09-The Climb]." There's much more from Guggenheim in the video above. He also crypticaly teases  that the motivation for Ra's actions share a similarity with Malcolm Merlyn's (John Barrowman) reasoning behind wanting to sink The Glades - apparently both Malcolm and Ra's are motivated by death. Fans of Batman Begins will recall that Christopher Nolan's take on Ra's also had the character motivated by death. Perhaps Arrow is borrowing from that particular film's playbook again?

Also touched on in the interview is the news that John Barrowman will have a larger impact once the show returns from mid-season hiatus in 2015. This comes on the heels of Barrowman teasing what looks to be a fitting for a mask so perhaps he'll be donning a new costume in reaction to his excommunicated from the League of Assassins?

Oliver's gonna die.
Since killing off major characters like Tommy and Shado worked so well for them, they figure that by that logic killing off Oliver will work wonders.

This season just doesn't manage to keep the level of S2. Maaaybe Ra's will help improve things, but so far he hasn't impressed me in the slightest. But hey, I'll continue watching, and there's always Awesome Tuesday with Flash and AoS.

I'm hoping the show changes to something I'd be interested in.

Producers during season 1: We'll never sway from our realistic approach

Then they bring Barry Allen and Mirakiru to the show.

After season 2: We'll return to our realistic roots!

Has a crossover with Flash, someone with powers.

Producers: Nope, just a one-time deviation!

Comments that Ra's al Ghul will change the show's tone yet again. Make up your mind, Marc!

Oliver will die but get resurrected from the Lazarus pit with a goatee, a sense of humor, and the desire to change his name to Green Arrow. Any other scenario is now automatically inferior and disappointing to me.

Arrow is still really good even though we don't have a badass villain like Deathstroke. I think once Ghul steps in it'll reach that level

I hope there is big changes coming to the show. Season 3 has been subpar so far in comparison to season 2 and The Flash. I think there's a few lessons to be learned after how well injecting a bit of humour into the last episode of Arrow worked out.

People here are DEFINITELY misremembering season 2. It didn't really pick up until Slade's appearance in the present.

Season 3 has been great so far, and just like the beginning of Arrow season 2.

omega- really i thought season 2 was a huge improvement over season 1 (that might just be because deathstroke is one of my favourite villians of all time, infact i would love to see ron pearlman as deathstroke in the DCCU because he voiced the character in teen titans). season 3 so far has been dragging IMO but there has been some awesome fight scenes (malcom vs oliver vs nyssa)

i loved captain boomerang in the last episode i hope we see him again at some point.

Would love to see Roy become more of an ass though

I hope the Lazarus Pit will be in the series. It would be a great way to bring back Sara and corrupt her mind like it did to Jason. I also hope Talia will appear in the series too. Maybe have her kill her sister likes she does in the comics.
TheTMan15
TheTMan15 - 12/7/2014, 1:00 PM
I think Sara is definitely coming back via the Lazarus Pit due to Caity Lotz posting pics of her on set and episode 13 being titled 'Canaries.' I think her mind being warped by the Lazarus Pit would be an awesome way to go and it might actually help Laurel as a character.

I hope Talia is mentioned but I don't think she needs to make an appearance, although I am in no way against it if the writers want to do that.

Oliver dies then comes back to life years later(thanx to the Pit). Finds Sara as Black Canary, Arsenal doing his own thing, Deathstroke has broken out, Oliver's sister is now Cheshire, more superheroes are running around, and finally meets his teenage son Connor.

@LionPepsiJuice

It's weird how ridiculous that is, yet improves this show. It certainly would help with the Batman comparisons.
