'Count Vertigo' Is The Latest DC Comics Villain To Make Small Screen Debut In ARROW

The CW are reportedly planning on bringing 'Vertigo' to the small screen in Arrow, although the character will be undergoing a fairly radical make-over! Even so, sources still describe this version of the DC Comics villain as being Oliver Queen's, "deadliest adversary to date".

TV Line reports that 'Count Vertigo' is set to make his small screen debut in Arrow early next year. However, he's set to be very different to the comic book version of the character, with their sources indicating that the CW series will be giving him both a new name and appearance. However, they go on to add that "the deadly new drug that becomes all the rage in Starling City in the Big Bad’s introductory episode will be called Vertigo!" Er, fair enough then. Still, it's also thought that his powers (an ability to disorientate his opponents) will remain intact. "He will be truly scary and nightmarish," the site was told, adding that he is "Oliver’s deadliest adversary to date." What do you guys make of this news?

Makes sense to change his name. His actual name in the comics is Werner Vertigo. That would be weird if someone's last name in a realistic show was Vertigo.

Well I guess that rules out the "Well Dressed Man" as being Vertigo. Now I'm really wondering who he is

I'll see how it play out on the show before I judge if it's good or bad.

That kind of mature, forward thinking is not welcome around these parts. It's either epic or shit, and you have to decide RIGHT NOW.

This show is great. I'm not very familiar with Count Vertigo though, i've only seen him in YJ. I wonder though, when they say his powers will remain intact, does that mean they're already going back on their word about "no superpowers" thing?

I am really enjoying Arrow so far, I can't wait for Deathstroke and Huntress. I really hope they keep adding the heroes and villains, but the other characters back stories also need to be fleshed out at some point to keep the show alive past this season. Still, Arrow is a nice alternative to the massive amount of cop, medical, and relationship dramas on tv these days.

im telling people they are gonna start using powers soon
its gonna end up like alphas it will start of quite simple and after a while people are gonna get powers that no one will have any logical reason for

and why because thay make good storys

arrow is starting to annoy me a little anyway dont get me wrong its a great show but the entire idea of green arrow is that he is a man doing so much good against people with far more power without that hes basically robin hood

and i know what peoples reaction will be ha the same as nolan well actually nolan never ruled out powers he was sensible the creaters of this show however will either end up sounding like hypocrits or letting the show sink

if your gonna give powers dont give such a stupid excuse because youve realised that your making a show based on superpower material with no actual powers

If Smallville lasted for 10 seasons I don't see why Arrow can't. And this is the opportunity to bring Deathstroke on the screen...

I'm sorry but these guys have a habit of making it seem like these outfits and appearances are going to be so epic, then when we get our first look at them, they look so plain. Nothing more than shades and a leather jacket and pants. Then the action is even less satisfying as these special characters only show up in the show two times, when they are introduced doing something bad then when they fight Oliver, their hardly in the show. Not gonna get excited about at all. Seriously having Smallville withdrawals watching this show.

I really like this show but I don't like the "realism" factor. Imean these are comic book characters . Give us gadgets and meta-genes and everything.

"avengersleagueofjusticeforamerica" exactly right i love the down to earth feel it has but how can they claim its remotely realistic and justify not giving powers when theve come up with a drug that gives power hardly realistic

Ohh man. I had a huge idea where Count Vertigo comes from Latikva as a guest and its a big thing because he is the prince and ambassador. Then, behind closed doors he is using Latikva technology to send mind waves live microwaves to peoples brains. After Arrow defeats him and takes the tech, Laurel could steal it. They could rework it and she uses it for her Canary Cry. That would work out perfectly!

Wait, so he'll still have at least one superpower? Sounds good to me. I can't wait to see the episode.

@JonathaNisMagnuM I'm still hoping Barrowman ends up being Bruce Wayne somehow.

Arrow has done a decent job on their interpretations of DC villains so far. It will be interesting to how they do with Count Vertigo.
