Jessica De Gouw Cast As 'The Huntress' In ARROW

Good news DC fans! 'The Huntress' (who currently stars alongside Power Girl in "The New 52" series, World's Finest) will be coming to the CW's Arrow in a multi-episode arc. The character will be played by Australian actress Jessica De Gouw. Read on for details!

Entertainment Weekly have learned that 'The Huntress' is set to make her live-action debut in the sixth episode of the upcoming CW series, Arrow. She will be played by Australian actress Jessica De Gouw (Tricky Business). According to the site, this version of the character will have the alias of Helena Bertinelli and will be the daughter of a Mafia boss who vows revenge after her family is killed. An official description for 'The Huntress' has also been released. "Helena is a potential love interest for Oliver Queen; a fellow vigilante, set on destroying her father’s organized crime empire. But Helena’s blind pursuit of revenge will put her on a collision course with the Arrow."

Yeah, I'm happy with this as well. It's funny, with Smallville, I remember in the summer leading up to season 6 hearing about Green Arrow coming to the show, and everyone was sorta like "Is he really a well known enough character to warrant being on a tv show?" And in the last three years of Smallville, I always got a huge kick out of seeing the lesser known characters from the DC Universe like the Legion of Superheroes, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Doctor Fate, Stargirl, Rick Flagg, Icicle, Cyborg, Bart Allen, etc... I think it shows very well how big the DC Universe is and it also keeps things fresh. If we keep seeing different versions of the same characters, it pigeon holes DC. They need to start somehwere with creating wider awareness of the rest of the characters in the DC stable

I am looking forward to this show; I have been waiting a long time to see someone adapt a comicbook character to TV, and this show looks like it's on the right path. High hopes for it.

@froggy, I think there would be enough people who would settle for an appearance from a cosplay hottie. That would be based in reality, and you would still have Power Girl.

Big Ears hit it on the nail. I don't think all of Arrows villains are lame, but half of them are arrow themed, and it's not a large selection. Having some Batman villains there makes sense, cause it's been like that in the comics.

This is great news but I'm still let down on the confirmation that GA's hometown name was changed and that no metahuman's will appear.

@silverdog Ashley Scott played the Helena Wayne version from the comics, (although called Helena Kyle in the series) - it was a different take on the comics and the whole series was loosely based on the Birds of Prey comicbook. Although I loved the show. :)

That's awesome! They're bringing in The Huntress! I've always liked the character.

I seem to be in minority with the casting choice. Don't get me wrong, Jessica De Gouw is very pretty, but she just isn't Helena to me. :/

@CherryBomb See, that is Helena to me. I would much rather Odette Yustman/Annable be cast in the role. She also looks Italian, which the character is.

@BigEars Now now, I agree with you with Green Arrow, with his biggest foe being "SOCIAL INJUSTICE!" but Flash's villains are classic: Captain Cold, Grodd, Weather Wizard and Zoom to name but a few. Sure they're cheesy and ridiculous but that's why comic books are great.

I get that n respect ur view, but I think they have the potential 2 b good, they're not quite there yet; lame names n costumes hold them back, not saying Flash n his villains should b dark n gritty but make it reasonably grounded, just makes it seem more credible n engaging
