This Fall, the CW will debut Arrow; a show focusing on the adventures of Oliver Queen, a.k.a. Green Arrow. Katie Cassidy (Supernatural) will play Dinah Lance, a character better known to comic book fans as the Black Canary. Talking to Collider, the actress confirmed that she will be returning to work on the show this July and had this to say about playing the well-know DC Comics character. "It’s a little intimidating, yeah, but when you’re so in it, you have to let that stuff go. You can’t think about it ‘cause then it just gets in your way."

"I try mainly to just focus on character and what my character’s point of view is, with each person, and try to figure out story,"
she added. "I’m just there to do my job. I’m really excited about it! I think it’s going to be really, really fun. I’m working with a great group of people, and everyone is amazing and really talented. I’m really lucky to have given the opportunity to do that." As for the recent announcement that the show will premiere at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Cassidy said, That will be awesome! I feel like I’m still not in the headspace for that yet, but it’s the perfect place."

Report Comment this is going to be a train wreck

You are so wrong. Train wrecks are interesting at least.

New poll: What is more watchable, a train wreck or Arrow? Someone get that going please. I am on team Train Wreck.

What's wrong with you guys? How does this not sound awesome? A famed comic book character finally getting a debut on the small screen and you guys are bashing it?? Yeah, real CBM fans here I can tell. You can't be upset with the product cause it looks and sounds great. You're probly just all ticked cause he doesn't have his little mask so it's not perfect. Well guess what, grow up. This will be a good show and if it's not, it's not cause of anything we've seen yet. So far, I predict A - for this

im gonna watch the pilot episode, that chick is hot the guy playing green arrow looks to be in ridiculous shape for the show. but if his masked is painted im on that will kill the show i hated black canary looking like on smallville and now green arrow with have a painted masked that is pretty weak. but the show looks better than some of the other stuff on tv

Super12, lol so you're a [frick]ing seer now? [frick] off cheese dick. Green Arrow is a shit character ANYWAY. The only people that would even remotely enjoy this are the same assholes that liked Smallville, which I'm sure you are one of that group. I'm sick of you cocksuckers that think disliking something comic related means we aren't "real fans" as you say. Well, if being a real fan means swallowing every bit of garbage tossed our way... then I'm glad to not be counted among such brainless trogs.

@the myth......how can you say this doesn't look like a descent show? It's got a pretty good trailer, the actors are pretty good and it's got a good network. Smallville sucked and was supposed to appeal more to a younger crowd. Rather you think green arrow is a weak character or not is of your own opinion but fact is this show will be nothing like the trainwreck that was smallville.

I am surprised at the overall negative comments on this thread. From what I've seen, it looks pretty good to me. Like anything with movies, comics, shows, etc., you decide if you're going to watch or read it, but nobody knows what the finished product is until it's aired/read. I don't like the fact that things sometimes aren't exactly like the source material, but that's the fanboy in me. I'm also open minded enough to give things a shot if they are indeed quality, despite minor changes from the source to the adaptation. If it does suck, then congratulations, you won an internet arguement. But if it's awesome, you're going to look like a raving lunatic. Point is, nobody can predict if something is going to be good or bad until it's ready. Hell, I thought Green Lantern was going to be awesome, but boy was I wrong. And for the record, Green Arrow is a very dynamic, complex character and does not suck. I also enjoyed Smallville (the first seven seasons anyway) and do not consider myself an asshole nor a brainless trog.

I think for a CW show, this looks great so far judging by the trailers. I really do wish he would put on some kind of mask to complete the costume but this looks a thousand times better than any other superhero TV show except for maybe The Incredible Hulk TV show with Bill Bixby.

In order for this series to ensnare my attention, there should be a high quantity of skin scenes from Dinah.

@TheMyth - Settle down now. If you don't like Green Arrow that's your perogative (though its wrong, cause he's a fine character). I just can't believe people are so quick to hate on a show like this. As comic fans we should generally be excited the more exposure these characters get. Now if it was an utter disgrace to the source material and crazy cheesy or lame..ok yeah there's reason to be upset. But Arrow? Dude this show looks good. It's not aimed at pre-teens like Smallville, and its bringing fresh acting talent to the small screen and looks well shot with a good tone. Looks like its being handled well.

Just saying, where's the love?

Katie's a really talented actress. She doesn't get much credit for her kind of, trashy-teen tv credits, but she's great. They really did do very well in casting her.

She's so beautiful. I wish she'd go back blonde though, she looks better as a blonde.

You can ALWAYS almost immediately tell when a CBM or CBTVS is not going to do very well. In interviews with the cast or production staff, those being interviewed always deliver "tow the line" answers to every question asked. Case and point: "I’m just there to do my job. I’m really excited about it! I think it’s going to be really, really fun. I’m working with a great group of people, and everyone is amazing and really talented. I’m really lucky to have given the opportunity to do that." - Katie Cassidy. And that's in direct opposition to movies you feel good about like the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man". Just listen to interviews with Andrew Garfield or Emma Stone. They are energetic and really into their part in making their movie/TV show whatever resonate with the fans. As a DC guy, I really really wish WBs would get their heads out of their collective a$$@$, get out of DCs way, and let them do their characters some "justice" (pun intended).

she should be getting better roles... she is a scream queen legend during the horror remake boom... she's starting to waste her career being in lame CW shows, she's btter then that. a true blond bombshell.

I haven't seen her in much, but I have a good feeling about her as Dinah Lance: she looks like her and seems like a good fit for the role.

If the show does well enough, and more seasons are ordered. Katie eventually needs to become Black Canary.

Even though Dinah won't have her "Canary Cry", she would still be bad ass.
