Bruce Timm returns to the Dark Knight's world for an Elseworlds adventure set in the 1960s: Batman: Soul of the Dragon. Set for release on Digital on January 12 and Blu-ray on January 26, it's a fun, pulpy adventure which finds Bruce Wayne training under a master sensei. It is here that Bruce, along with other elite students, is forged in the fire of the martial arts discipline. However, the lifelong bonds they form will be put to the test when a deadly menace arises from their past.
It will take the combined efforts of Batman, world-renowned martial artists Richard Dragon, Ben Turner, Lady Shiva and their mentor O-Sensei to battle the monsters of this world and beyond!
Black Dynamite, Arrow, and Spawn star Michael Jai White takes on the role of Bronze Tiger, delivering a unique new take on the character which should definitely go over well with fans. As you'll no doubt already know, White has been a fan-favourite pick to play the John Stewart Green Lantern for several years now, and there's no reason to think that couldn't still happen in the near future.
The Lantern TV series coming to HBO Max is one possibility, as is the Green Lantern movie said to still be in the works. So, while we had White on the phone, we had to ask if he's still interested in joining a live-action superhero franchise. Needless to say, the actor is fully on board with the idea.
"Absolutely. I think it makes all the sense in the world. It seems like my fanbase...there's always the question of John Stewart and Green Lantern. I think I'd be incredible in another superhero franchise, and now that I've studied it for so long, to culminate with all my moviemaking ability as I've been directing, writing, producing...I'm fine for doing something like that."
John Stewart's live-action debut is long overdue, and hiring a badass like Michael Jai White to breathe life into the hero either on the big or small screen would be a smart move on Warner Bros.' part.
What do you guys think?
