Geoff Johns On Ryan Reynolds, Mark Strong As Sinestro And Isamot Kol!

Thanks to Newsarama's coverage of the "Green Lantern - Emerald Empire" panel at the New York Comic Con, we have some interesting new information about the upcoming movie including the confirmation that Isamot Kol, a veteran soldier of the Rann-Thanagar War, will appear in the 2011 movie! Check out the main points below and for more news on the comic book adventures of Green Lantern, follow the link at the bottom of this page!

Johns talked a bit about the Green Lantern movie, saying it's wrapped, and "really exciting."

The first fan asked if Ryan Reynolds was "too comical" for Green Lantern. Johns said he does an amazing job when "it gets serious and the chips are down."

A fan mentioned that since he figured out that Isamot is "Tomasi" backwards, he looks at every new character's name backwards to see if there's a hidden message. Johns said there's a couple more like that, and that Isamot is actually in the movie.

Johns said the Green Lantern trailer will be before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

A fan asked for Johns to "describe Mark Strog's performance" as Sinestro. Johns said he was "blown away" upon seeing Strong after the first makeup test.

Johns said it looks exactly like Ivan Reis's Sinestro come to life, and that it's all prosthetics.

"Should we look for any Easter eggs of the different color rings in the movie?" Johns: "Can't really talk about that. Good try."

"Why CGI for the suit?" Johns said he can't give specifics about that.

Green Lantern is set to be released on June 17, 2011!

Very, very cool. Still only want to see Reynolds as only one superhero but it's to late to complain about that... apparently that doesn't stop me.

My best friend is a hardcore GL-fanboy and I'm the hardcore Supes-fanboy. We make fun of each other's hero when we hang out...but we both agreed to check out each other's film. So far this film is sounding great.

I hope this film succeeds over the marvel ones...but on the inside I'm really hoping the Supes-reboot will pwn this one still. But hey both are sounding great. And I am really just excited to see what Mark Strong looks like as Sinestro. That should be a site to behold.

Mark Strong as Sinestro is probably the thing I'm most looking forward to in this movie. I'm also sure that Ryan Reynolds will make a great Hal. It would be awesome for Green Lantern to end with Sinestro finding a way to create the yellow power rings leading into a version of the Corps war next time!!! :)
