Geoffrey Rush is back in the mode of demanding teacher — but instead of a king’s speech therapist, the Aussie actor will be Tomar-Re, a bird-beaked alien who teaches Ryan Reynolds’ character how to use his new cosmic powers in "Green Lantern."

Warner Bros. is expected to officially announce Thursday that the 59-year-old Oscar winner is giving voice to the CG-created member of the Green Lantern Corps.

As I'm sure you'll agree, this is a fantastic addition to the already impressive cast of the movie. What do you think of the choice to cast The King's Speech and Pirates of the Caribbean star as Tomar-Re? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

With an all star cast which includes Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and Mark Strong as Sinestro, director Martin Campbell's Green Lantern is set to be released in 3D on June 17, later this year!

Winning.

@PartyHard

Erm, voice work like this usually done quite late. Transformers, for example, did the same.

@partyhard anything dealing with voice acting is done after a film in Post Pro. So that the voice actor has everything in his disposal visual to give everything he needs to emphasis certain situations. Since Tomar re is all CGI it is protocal to have a stunt actor doing all his physical stuff and the actual actor comes in later it has always been done that way

The good news is that Geoff Boucher is presuming that Reynolds will be in Justice League.

"The film represents a pivotal moment for Warner Bros. as the first release under a new initiative to better exploit the DC universe and with the studio’s plan to push forward with a Justice League film that would presumably include Reynolds in the Green Lantern role."

@PartyHard

That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe voice over work is one of the last things done in a movie like this? But doesn't it seem like Warner Bros. are completely unprepared for making a heavy duty special effects movie like this?
